Here is an interesting road sign in Port Augusta South Australia 300 km (186miles) north of Adelaide Perth is 2,388 km (1483 miles) and Darwin is 2,723km (1692miles) From Nottingham this distance

How about this one from Wollaston.

That bush needs a bit of a trim.

On the journey out of Bolsover towards Chesterfield there is a road called "Deepsick Lane"

i will look out for that one next time we drive that way its only since the start of this thread that i have been taking notice of the road names as well as the viewesaround us as we are driving.

#51 Wigwam Lane, Hucknall. On old maps the lane is called Wigram Lane. I suppose the locals used to call it Wigwam and they decided on that name eventually.

Not unusual street names but place names

There is a Great Fryup in North Yorkshire. Its next to Little Fryup.

There is a Village in Northumberland called Once Brewed, its next to Twice Brewed, and even a place called No Place (near Beamish Museum) and even a village called Pity Me

#51 Wigwam Lane, Hucknall. On old maps the lane is called Wigram Lane. I suppose the locals used to call it Wigwam and they decided on that name eventually

I think the name change was caused by a short tongued map maker :sleeping:

Part of Parliament Street was called Coal Pit Lane at one time, and has anyone mentioned Snottingham yet? (if in fact that is true ) My wife being a proud Scot used to extract the u***e over that ( in response to my "only one good thing came out of Scotland, the A74") actually there was 2 the other being her, am dreading next wed, 2 years gone

Believe it or not there was a tent makers on Wigwam Lane (Corden & James)
