Former Trent Bridge Pupils - we need your memories!

Recommended Posts

Hello!

We are looking for former Trent Bridge students to tell us about their school days - in particular their time in the 'Technical/Practical Block'.

This building is now called Mundella House, located on Green Street (Meadows) and has been derelict for almost 10 years - as you may already know, it is the school's only remaining block.

We are looking to buy the building and regenerate it - bring it up to an high energy efficiency standard whilst maintaining the exterior look.

To afford the works we are submitting an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund, to meet the criteria we need memories/photos/anecdotes from past students. Ideally we would like to meet you and film your recollections!

Can you help? Any assistance is really appreciated.

Thanks

Alison

Welcome

It would be good if all recollections go into this thread.

The important thing for me is that at least part of Trent Bridge School will remain.

Its a shame that use could not have been made of the TB Juniors, TB Girls and TB Boys Schools.

Please support this project...

come on all you trent bridge members and i know there are a few of you on here nows your chance to rake up all that old grey matter and get all your memories down in writing for future genorations to read and im sure some of them will laugh at the things we got up to the punishments we had to endure and the things we had to do

Us bad lads unscrewed the bowl off the light fitting in the boys toilet, filled it up with 'you know what' & screwed it back on so the bulb dipped into the liquid & turned it on, it then boiled, oh how we laughed. :)

We also had competitions to see who could wee highest up the wall. I wonder what the caretaker thought?.

I went to Trent Bridge and in the block was the wood and metalwork classes - I was really crap at both things and was kind of pushed to and fro. The Art class was in there too and at one session one of the lads did a nude painting and was marched to see Mr Green the head - he said nudity was a type of art but the art teacher agreed but said the picture was pornographic!!!

I seen to think next to the block was a kind of Youth Centre Pop Williams sometimes took Music in

I went to Mundella but we shared the playing fields with the TB pupils. There was also a gang of them who used to wait on the corner and sing 'Red and yeller Monkeydella, can't afford a new umbrella' and we were terrified of them. Was it you or any of your mates parmitage?

With those song writing skills I'm sure some must have ended up in the music business!!

I regret I was not one of those singers. I do remember we had snowball fights on the playing fields usually at Lunch time. I remember one afternoon a mob of us waiting outside Mundella and as you all came out we bombarded you with snowballed. We were not aware your head teacher had forbidden you to throw any we just thought you couldn't find any snow so us rotten sods just kept throwing them

I think most of the singers were girls - must have been forerunners of the Sugarbabes!

I think our head master must have been a pacifist at heart, tho I remember sitting in the hall doing our mock O levels and finding a snowball in my blazer pocket. Had to sit and let it melt then got told off for the puddle :(

I know I was not bad at snowballs but I don't think I could have got it into your pocket no matter how I tried. I was at the age when we did not do O levels they kicked you out at 15 - glad to see the back of us - although to be fair I was a goody toe shoes as I was made a prefect - best wishes Peter

I believe it got there from someone on my own side!! I was a goody two shoes too, if ever I did anything wrong I was always found out - played hookey once and got caught, tried a cigarette and my dad made me smoke a whole packet.......

Did you know the Oscroft girls Christine and Kath - they lived a few doors from me and I was pally with them.

#14 Parmitage.................did'nt go to TB but your ref' to Art and Porn reminded me of a lad in our class at Padstow school, who was forever drawing 'Penis'es' and Tits on every one elses books,..........bumped into him a couple of years ago,and asked him if he recalled doing it ?.......he was with his Wife, and she said 'the dutty Bogger still does it'.....and we all cracked up laughing.
