They're so used to getting it wrong that today they've dug up a Diana story to be on the safe side...
catfan 14,793
Happened to stroll in to the main library on Angel Row today, and guess what ? Upstairs in the now housing & benefits section the place was absolutely crawling with Eastern Europeans. The "Flood Gates" have opened !!

colly0410 1,181
Re # 21. I caught a train from Stratford to Nottingham, "change to the Nottingham train when you get to New Street!" said the bod. Got into Snow Hill & I thought "New Streets next." The train then reversed. Muggins here sat there thinking all was normal. I asked the bod at the side of me "how long to New Street?" He said "were going to Stratford, you have to walk to New Street about 1/2 a mile away!" I had to get off at the next station & catch another train to Snow Hill then walk to New Street. Of course I missed the Nottingham train & had to go via Derby. Oh what a day that was..
catfan 14,793
Nothing surprises me anymore with trains. Best way to travel but the fares......................OUCH.
firbeck 859
You should have said hello, as I was there. It is a commemoration of the contribution the Poles who fought during the war, and who subsequently settled here, made to Nottingham. In fact, my wife is in a few of the pictures in the exhibition, and her aunt is one of the main contributors of content. I have no problem with the Poles who fought for us and settled here after the war, after all , they had to face life going back to a destroyed country that had been carved up by the USSR, that Churchill was powerless to do anything about, to have to put up with Soviet indoctrination and all the rest of the crap that was thrown at them. Our town, Braintree, is so over-run by Eastern Europeans that you can walk around the town centre and think that you are at an Eastern Bloc conference. The new influx of Polish immigrants are so arrogant and selfish, as for the Romanians, they are just appalling, they have somehow got the franchise for selling 'Big Issue' yet arrive in a top of the range Audi and constantly talk on very expensive smart phones, yet the 'Powers that Be' clearly give them benefit payouts and don't want to know. My father in law escaped to this country following the Hungarian uprising in 1956, he's trained here and worked his gut's out all his life as a civil engineer, he's not at all happy with the current situation, we've tried to talk reasonably to some of these people, the Romanians in particular, all they do is threaten you, nice one, in the country I was born in with a family heritage going back 1000 years, how do you think I feel. By the way, I dumped reading the press many years ago, they are truly full of crap, particularly the Daily Mail, whichever political party it thinks it's affiliated to.

Bilboro-lad 294
It's not going to happen. The UKIP bandwagon is losing momentum and the inexorable drift into a European Superstate continues.
Bilbraborn 1,594
I thought I'd put this on here. As you know, I've not long moved house and life is great. Except...... Wigman Road now has permit parking. When the WPL was introduced, the staff in the schools across the road decided to stop using their car park and use the road instead. This stopped the residents and their visitors being able to park. Oh Dear!!!!! this will never do,!! Getting out of paying the dreaded Levy? No chance. Along came the little Lady and up went the signs. On one side it is residents permits 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. On the other side it is pay to park. So I applied for a permit. They needed proof of residency. So I sent my council tax bill and my insurance certificate. No chance. Apparently a council tax bill is not proof of residency. And the wording on the application form??. If you copy a permit, use a visitors permit too long, upset the staff, then WE WILL REMOVE YOUR RIGHT TO A PERMIT!!!!! I suppose it is all my fault for having the audacity to expect to be able to park outside my house.
FLY2 10,108
Same on Stockhill Lane opposite the rec. Basford College staff used to park there and in the little closes. Now they are forced to use the College car park and pay the levy. Walked past today and Bowmer & Kirkland are building there. Either extending the premises or the car park. It would serve NCC right if businesses moved beyond the city limits. Robbing barstewards.

Bilbra To be technically correct, the actual residency is stated on the electoral roll, which NCC has anyway, as they have to compile it by law. So all you need to do is prove your identity as the person on the electoral roll. So if you have a poll card with your name on it, it should be enough. So if you have a poll card, proof of payment for utility bills, proof of identity as the person on the roll, photos of you inside the house, deeds from the solicitor, your passport and a deposition from your local vicar that you have moved to the house, then absolutely none of these documents will be of any use to you with NCC as they make up the rules as they go along.
Bilbraborn 1,594
Mr Dancer, I know you are right. They couldn't be fair if they tried. My family, myself included, used to be all for socialism. For us they represented the working man. Now all they are interested in is shoving political correctness etc in your face. They are now the party of CONTROL. Do as you are told!!! They do not like us holding our own opinions or arguing back.
FLY2 10,108
On the news, there was mention of protesters at RAF Waddington, and their involvement in tracking US Drones flying over Afghanistan. Don't these idealistic, hair brained low life realise that it's done in the interests of our troops safety and in the long term, our own safety. These are spineless, underhand traitors .

plantfit 7,593
If they did live in a war zone they wouldn't have the luxury of being able to speak out in public, I see these clowns most days when I drive along the A15,they are only there when the airshow is on or when some foreign dignitaries are visiting the airfield other than that it does look like a war zone with their shitty little caravan parked on one of the old hard standings all the curtains blowing in the wind and their banner all torn and tattered, the old bill should round them up and get them litter picking round town, (after they have cleaned up the mess they have left Rog
