Cliff Ton 10,464
As well as people using the word 'So' to start speaking , it's increasingly being used online in posts. When people post a message or comment, there's an increasing number which start "So.... I did this etc etc".
plantfit 7,592
Can never understand why people start a sentence like that, I was always taught at school never to start a sentence off using the words "And, So, But and Then" because it shows a lack of vocabulary Rog

Jill Sparrow 10,305
Around here, there's been a spate of turning lovely, old country inns into ghastly gastro pubs. I certainly don't frequent them any longer.
philmayfield 6,123
The food comes in a van from Brakes and it's heated up in the microwave. Some years ago at a pub in deepest Cornwall we ordered a meal. We were seated near to the kitchen door. We heard lots on pinging. I took a sneaky look and saw rows and rows of microwaves. Home cooking my a**e! 1
Cliff Ton 10,464
Back in the 80s there was a fashion for breweries to give a makeover and refit to long-standing, well-liked pubs and turn them into 'Fun Pubs'. I never knew anyone who liked them, or thought they were fun.
philmayfield 6,123
Last Monday night there were only three of us in my local between 8.30pm and 10pm. Just three pints drunk between us. The previous week the Women's Institute darts team were there. A bloody rowdy lot but there was lots of surplus pork pie and sandwiches for us!

Black pudding sandwiches and cheese and onion cobs were the staple food of darts matches in my youth. Are there any pubs in Nottinghamshire that still play long alley skittles or any that have bar billiards tables?
philmayfield 6,123
Cheese and onion crusty cobs are out of this world with a pint of fine ale. Whilst I eat black pudding with my traditional Sunday breakfast I’ve never had it in a sandwich . Just doesn’t seem right.

philmayfield 6,123
Well I'll try anything once. The best black puddings that I've eaten were made in Scotland. Some contain a large amount of fat that I don't like.
philmayfield 6,123
I've just remembered that the very best black puddings came from George Stafford of Stanley Common. He'll be in the great black pudding factory in the sky now but I do believe his puddings are still made somewhere from his 'secret' recipe. I believe Chambers in Arnold sell them. Anybody tried them? MRS B 517
Mr B loves black pudding (yuck) By the way how can you compare black pudding with a large amount of fat to women with the same?
philmayfield 6,123
I believe we have to call them 'puddings of colour' to be pc now.
