It's a bee fly. Feeds on nectar. Flies April to May and it's larvae feed on grubs of solitary bees.

Never seen one before, but you can keep it over that side of the pond, thank you very much! LOL

Elephant Hawk Moth, feeds on nectar. Don't know if it's some sort of bee or not. I first saw one in Austria but they're fairly common in Norfolk.

If it moved erratically Mam would have called it a scopodittle. Silverfish, ants, leatherjackets, flies, me when I was rushing about: all would be called scopodittles by Mam..

If anyone was rushing around she called them a scopodittle, e.g. "she's running round like a scopodittle, I wish she'd calm down."

Silverfish as I remember looked like tiny silver woodlouce, horrible little creatures that would live under carpets, underlay and bathroom floor mats

Really glad to be back on line everybody I've not been too well these last few weeks, in and out of QMC but things are starting to brighten up.

This insect flew into my kitchen & exploded, I'm told it could have been a Jihaddy long leg?

Pull the wings and legs off and use it for a game of darts.

It was sad to see the posts regarding Paul (fch782c) as he passed away not long after. I'm sure that you'll all agree that his

contribution to Nottstalgia was much appreciated.
