They used to hold these at Epperstone Manor, Notts Police Training School, years ago then they flogged it!

Maybe PCSOs dont need such intensive training?

On the subject of Emergency Services but a trifle off line;

The media down here is giving coverage to the security alert in Britain being heightened to 'Severe' and the likelihood of an event occurring on British soil being upgraded to 'Highly Likely'; due to situations in other areas of the globe.

Film footage shows fully armed British police patrolling the streets and transport hubs, street barriers and the like and, public statements from figures of authority regarding the upgraded status.

My question is; what impact has this having on the streets, airport and way of life in Nottingham i.e, increased police patrols, armed police etc.

It simply beggars belief that the streets of the Nottingham that I once knew could be transformed into scenes of security like what we are viewing on our television screens.

Trevor,

Absolutely no impact at all.

Many people are saying that it's just a political stunt to take people's minds off the possibility of more MPs defecting to UKIP. Which is why Theresa May was virtually grinning when she made the announcement.

Thanks for that information, Rob.L.

Staying away from anything that can even be remotely allied to a political comment, your PM was also shown addressing the situation.

There was a lot of old film footage of past events but the sight of police armed contingents patrolling the streets in what could only be London was quite surprising.

Glad to hear that Nottingham is, on the surface, unaffected.
