benjamin1945 16,151
Back in the 50s and 60s you would never believe that one day we would all be walking about with a computer in our pockets, even a TV,Camera and a sat nav, that the USA would have a black president, another 'Holy war' and England a 3rd rate football team. I had a simple bag of chips and they gave me a £1:00 portion. That portion was so big that it would have cost me in the region of £6-8 up here!

colly0410 1,181
I always have a small/kids portion of chips, I can never eat all of a proper portion. We usually go to hole-in-the-wall/7 mile house for one of their £3-69 smaller carveries, help yourself to as much veg as you want, I had seconds of stuffing & roast spuds.. When I was at Trent Bridge school I got a shilling (5 pence) for school dinners, I'd go to the chip-shop on Bunbury street & have a 6 penny (2 1/2 pence) mix & pocket the tanner. The chip-shop bloke mentioned it to Mam about me going in & I got a tanned backside..
