Sorry it's a late response but being a newbie, i'm viewing old threads on a regular basis to catch up.

Looks like we've crossed paths in the past then Mick as I used to visit the Slipper above the Co-oP in the early 70's - despite being married at the time smile2

As they say, small world.

Yes Probably Frank.

The slipper was actually above some kind of service garage?

You went upstairs and turned left, The small ticket was on the left,

gents bog on right. Then there were two double doors to the main dancefloor

Entering that, to your left was a corner bar. The barman was a welsh guy, Ron.

and a lady who's name escapes me? In the center of the left wall was the DJ stand

where I would be. on the right was a second bar which was set back, and if not

busy that area would be curtained off. At the far end was a small stage, later used

by the dj's. Myself and Barry at that time. On that same stage played Cozy Powell.

I picked up one of his personolized drumsticks broken during his gig.

Kept it for some years, then never saw it again?

In the late 60's it would have been Mad Mike (as opposed to mad mick) and another guy who's name also escapes me. I remember records played in that era, 'Johnnie Remember me' and 'Ghost riders in the sky', Lulu Shout.

Ah those were the days

Bit late I know but we must keep the WB side up!

I went in 69, I was only 15 at the time :-)

I remember the favourite music was Four Tops I can't Help Myself and Norman Greenbaum
Spirit in the Sky. Pulled a nice bird who was a year or two older than me.
Many happy moments waiting for her last bus over at the Trent Bridge Bus Terminus on a
wednesday night.

About that Time they had groups like 6 Across and Sons & Lovers.

DJ at that time, would probably have been Mad Mike (Burdette)?

We used to go there (from Gedling) every Friday - mid to late 60's.

It was always free, or at least they let us in free. I remember it well, cos the first time they charged to get in, was when Bonzo Dog Do Dah band were on. I can't remember the actual fee, but it put a lot of people off at the time,,,, but little did they know what a geat show it was.

It was more than a night out for us, as my mates & I might not get home until late Saturday or Sunday - those were the days,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Sounds familiar to me?

What year was that?

When I first started going in 68-69, memorable records played.

Shout (Lulu) and Ghost riders in the sky.
