Not sure when Carnarvon House was built but in 1911 a Richard Wakefield lived there.  His occupation was Glove Importer .

He died in 1914 and his obit said he carried on his business in the "Great Market Place".

Can only see one ref in 1950 to the Deccan Club . A customer thanking a Mr and Mrs Brooks for a marriage reception held there .

Yes they were.... The lads n lasses always looked smart on a night out and me mam always had brilcream stains on her settee doilys
