banjo48 928
My dad was a very avid gardener and his favorite flowers was Dahlias, he meticulously lifted them every year, labelled then dusted with sulfur to stop any fungal growths and diseases and placed in newspaper lined boxes covered with hessian in the airy and dry cellar in the dark till spring. Then he would trim and separate the tubers and replant. He would always have an amazing show of blooms and our house always had bunches of them in vases whilst in flower. 1

tomlinson 879
A poet said, 'A garden is a lovesome thing, God wot!' I agree, as long as it's somebody else's. 1
katyjay 5,090
Loved dahlias, but so did earwigs!
Compo 10,328
As per Banjo but when you cut off the stems turn the tubers upside down for a few days to let the surplus moisture run out before storing. If you don't do this you run the risk of mould. No need to use a fungicide if you drain them poperly and store in a cool, dry place.
mick2me 3,033
A very good tip thank you Compo. I know last year some tubers rotted when chucked in a box, thats why
plantfit 7,580
Grew these from seed in 2020 and had a decent show, cut them down to ground level when they had finished and left them in the ground all winter, last years show was even better, once again cut to ground level in December and left in the ground, see what happens this year Rog 1
