Bubblewrap 3,815
It's always interesting to see what was demolished when The Victoria Station was built . If you think about it in that area 24 public houses alone went.
PeverilPeril 3,281
It's always interesting to see what was demolished when The Victoria Station was built . If you think about it in that area 24 public houses alone went. Well in those days the only things to do were drinking reading and sex. But a lot of people couldn'd read! ... 1,411
There never seemed to be many kids or folk from other areas when I lived in the meadows, even when I was a skinhead we went everywhere for a uscrap ,but can never remember any fights in the meadows except match days and they were usually brief because coppers escorted everyone through in those days and knowing all the back streets and entries was a huge advantage ,if we were outnumbered you could always nip into your mates house till danger passed. Bilbraborn 1,594
I remember the Denewood Crescent area of Bilborough being a pretty scary place when I was little. But I think St. Anne's and the Meadows are now no go areas for me.

radfordred 6,284
Talking to my copper nephew in Nottingham yesterday and asked him which was the roughest area of Nottingham. Without hesitation he said ////////////////? Okay I give in put us out of our misery where is no go area of Nottingham?
PeverilPeril 3,281
I didn't use the term 'no go area' - there are many of those, dependent on who you are or the time of day/night. I assumed that Radford Rd / Hyson Green area, where I was brought up, would be on the short list but apparently not. The place mentioned was the most notorious in the 40's 50's and apparently it still is.

colly0410 1,181
Not somewhere like Wollaton, West Bridgeford or Ravenshead is it?
FLY2 10,108
I bet it's Wollaton behind Grangewood Rd up to where the railway line is. There's some dubious characters infiltrated the area. Dealers allegedly. I left Wollaton in the mid eighties as it was getting a bit like Bombay market even then.
