mick2me 3,033
A pensioner who says local children made his life 'hell' put anti-vandal paint on his garden fence to stop them climbing on it and throwing stones at his windows.Robert Brown also reported the youngsters to police and was delighted when officers came round to speak to him.He assumed it was to take details of his plight – and was shocked to learn he was being prosecuted for criminal damage because the children had got the paint over their clothes. Their mother alleged that almost £4,000 worth of furniture and carpets had been ruined by the youngsters treading the paint, which does not dry and leaves surfaces slippery, into her house.Robert Brown, 76, says children made his life 'hell' so put anti-vandal paint on his garden fence Unemployed mother-of-six Judith Ripley-Aitchison complained about the vandal paint and said 'kids are kids'Retired security guard Mr Brown, 76, was hauled to court three times and threatened with a criminal record in a nine-month ordeal as he fought the case which cost around £10,000 of taxpayers' cash. It was dropped on the day it was due to go to trial last month. Ivor Thirst 120
Where has common sense gone in this country? The "unemployed mother of six" should be keeping her kids in check but instead has, of course, joined the complain and compensation brigade.
Robbie 39
The problem we now live in a claim and blame society which is partly down to the pushy solicitors touting for work encouraging people to claim for a host of things you wouldn't even have considered years ago. But this country's judicial system sucks anyway.
... 1,411
There are those that think, the children are just being children, why should the mother explain to them that the stress they cause, could give a elderly person a heart attack.

darkazana 1,736
The solicitors representing the mother should be made to pay the costs for taking it on and encouraging her in the first place!
loppylugs 8,427
Sad, but just more of the same stuff discussed in another thread here. The measures required to clear up this mess will never be acceptable in a self centered PC society so it will go on. Its just that simple.
