mick2me 3,033
The discussion elsewhere of 'Pobs' (bread and milk) brought a game to mind which Though were called pobs. I did find an image but no name for the game? What was this game and how was it played?
carni 10,094
This looks promising. I think it was called Jacks? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knucklebones
Cliff Ton 10,454
I was going to say Snobs like this, https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=snobs+children%27s+game&espv=2&biw=1705&bih=873&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=yOc7VYvAAYP9aNzUgNAP&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ but I see that carni's answer also includes that name as an alternative to Jacks. So it seems to be same-thing-different-name.
BilboroughShirley 1,120
Hi Cliff Ton, Looking at the photos on your link, the game on the top left I remember as Jacks and the next one along we called snobs. The snobs were the little cubes with ridges. My set were in nice pastel colours. I had forgotten all about this game. Thanks.
MargieH 7,599
When you played Jacks, the ball was thrown up, allowed to bounce before you picked up the metal 'Stars' and caught it again. There were 10 stars. There were only 5 snobs and they were just like BilboroughShirley's description of them. As I've mentioned on another thread, I've still got my original snobs!
