I've dined out on this story for years and i'm not going to give the true technical reason as it's far too complicated. This, at the age of 17, was the first in a whole range of dangerous episodes that have blighted my life and which I have walked away from virtually unscathed! Chopping my finger off in a horticultural accident was one of the few which required hospitalisation.
