mercurydancer 1,104
Wonderful photographs. All of them. Drury Hill could have been a very picturesque place that tourists would visit, but unfortunately tourists were not in the equation when Broad Marsh was build. Planners - Forgive them for they know not what they did. Nor cared. But to put a perspective on things, Nottingham is a very lovely city and has lots of very good restaurants, theatres and interesting things to do. It could have been more beautiful but it still punches way above its weight in the terms of being a gorgeous city.
Guest
Nice shot Robbie, great motors; the building reminds me of another... somewhere?
Robbie 39
I agree Ian, some great classic cars, As to the building, I think the roof design is very similar to Glade Hill Junior School at Bestwood Park.

mercurydancer 1,104
Margie For a hobby I do battlefield tours with some other military chums. The other end of PLUTO came out on Arromanche in Normandy and bits of it are still there. It was known as Port Winston! It is on Gold beach. Some years ago, whilst preparing for a tour, I visited a little cafe near the car park in Arromanche. The menu was interesting and offered many mussel dishes, which are amongst my favourite. I ordered the mussels a la patron and the owner said to me that it would be at least 45 minutes. That was fine by me. Next thing I saw was him walking out of the restaurant wearing wellies and carrying a bucket. I know that the mussels could not have been fresher!
Cliff Ton 10,464
Early 1960s when we were on holiday. Looking up Whitehall towards Trafalgar Square; and I've no idea who the man is at the front of the photo. Almost the same location; I've Googled the play and the theatre. It was the Whitehall theatre and the play was called "One for the Pot" which ran from August 61 to July 64.
Merthyr Imp 729
By a curious coincidence I have this in an old scrapbook of memorabilia: I never went to see the play, I think my father must have picked the leaflet up when driving a coach outing there.
Blondie 1,392
I went to see - 'One or the Pot ' - in December 1961, it was a daytrip to London organised by Reynold's factory in Hucknall, they did some great outings and were always a lot of fun.........very memorable.........wonder where all the girls are now ?...
