EileenH 496
Oh wow! I`m there! Pony tail, spinning-out skirt me Mam made for me. Lipstick put on in the toilet cos Dad wouldn`t let me wear make-up. Warm orange squash in the interval. Dancing with yer mate and peeping at the lads lined up at the side of the hall. Oh, brilliant! Still got a pony tail.
MargieH 7,600
Like Buddy Holly and like ballroom dancing, but together???
EileenH 496
Yeah! Amazing stuff Margie. All those whirling meringues! Not like my home-made spinning out skirt, I wonder what dance they were doing - - quickstep or something?
Guest
Buddy has two graves--have been to the garage where he first recorded... met friends and relations.. great memorable day.
Michael Booth 7,364
This is Buddy Holly's gravestone in the Lubbock cemetery, Texas. You'll see that Holly is spelt with an 'E'. That's because his real name was Charles Hardin Holley.

EileenH 496
Crikey yes! Takes yer back, eh? Thanks Dave. And look at the lads` outfits - nice jackets and ties - and neat, short haircuts.
Dave 48 847
Benjamin would be proud of the lads in those days. LOL
MargieH 7,600
Dave 48. Thanks for thinking of me and Eileen.... I wonder what song they were jiving to.... My style of jiving was different to that, though - difficult to explain, but we sort of slowly moved round clockwise with our partners. I have some old cine film - now on DVD - of me jiving with a boyfriend in our back garden when I was 16, but would have no idea how to put that on here. It's only a very short clip anyway and part of a much longer film
Dave 48 847
Still popular today.
MargieH 7,600
That's more like it Dave although our jiving was even smoother!! Enjoyed watching the clips though, thankyou
