littlebro 234
It was found after 'routine' inspection, if it was down there 20 years then a good many routine inspections must have missed it?
catfan 14,793
Forty odd years go whilst courting the ex wife I took her on a rowing boat down the trent embankment, who remembers those ? Rowing away we came across a bit of a crowd on the bank watching a car being lifted out of the water by crane. It transpired that a bloke driving along the embankment the previous November in heavy fog lost his way & ended up in the water. This car, a Mk 1 ford Escort in white had been in the water for nine months complete with missing driver, or what was left of him. A tarpaulin was put over the car to stop the ghouls taking a look, after all this was a hot august sunday afternoon !

radfordred 6,284
Early teens a lad who hung around with us would open & drive off any car he always used a spoon! Once went to Skeg in a 1275GT Mini & came back in a Talbot sunbeam! Can't say I've heard of him since?

catfan 14,793
I once parked my car at the bus depot in Bulwell one Saturday morning, finished my shift & the car had gone, (Mk 2 Cortina). Sunday teatime was driving along Vernon Road with brother in law & my car passed us ! We followed my car into the Oxford pub car park & lets say we had a quiet word in the driver's ear ! I went home in my Cortina.
