You saw it was a link to the Guardian and dismissed it immediately as being biased, even though the source is official Eurostat data. How about we look at the numbers another way? Under this measure, the country receiving by far the most applicants is Sweden, with 8,365 per million people living there. As does his wife and both sets of inlaws!! Remember the eastern European found in Dublin ship canal in a suitcase? He was granted asylum as he escaped from "great cruelty". Involved in crime whilst getting more handouts than most. Upon investigation his parents owned two shoe shops!! Let's get the waiting lists down,rid the fear of pensioners frightened to leave the gas fire on,improve public services first..before we fill someone else's begging bowl. barclaycon 569 Posted August 1, 2015 Report Share Posted August 1, 2015 We've got the self-righteous, 'determined to be offended' brigade coming out and saying that the word 'swarm' - describing the large numbers of migrants trying to force their way in, is offensive. As Daniel Hanant pointed out, any TV reporter describing protesters breaking into a building would describe them as a swarm. Why is it that thousands of migrants trying to gain illegal entry to the country can't be described as such ? We had the same thing some years ago when David Blunkett was pilloried for describing the massive immigration figures as a 'flood of people' coming in. Both words are entirely accurate, it's just the usual 'holier than thou' types trying to big themselves up - because they are more compassionate than the rest of us (!) We are so rich in this country and have such a collective guilty conscience that we should just fling the doors open and devote all the resources that we have worked hard for over decades, to anyone and everyone - right ? The annoying, gobby, Janet Street Porter said on TV that these migrants are 'human beings'.... as if we are not ! I wonder if she has any regard for the effect that the population increase of 4 million in 10 years is having. Clearly that's not on her agenda. The simple fact is that this country cannot cope . The NHS is crumbling under the massive weight of managerial beaurocracy thanks to. Blairs policies There's insufficient housing for the current population, so where in Gods name will a sudden massive influx be accommodated.
