The Engineer 612
Were the cottages actually on Spring Road or were they accessed from the Market Place? One of my uncles lived there. They were demolished to build the Coop I think and would have been where it is now Wilkos car park.

Enigma. 1,533
Bulwell Market Place c1900s , looking up towards Highbury Road - i think the cottages were roughly where the chimney was
Enigma. 1,533
Bulwell Market Place , Main Street c1960s chimney now gone but cottage still there behind sign on left hand side
notty ash 370
I wonder if this old view shows the area? Looking at the angle of the church, this must be the area just east of the market place. http://www.nottshistory.org.uk/articles/bulwell/victorianbulwell.htm
Enigma. 1,533
Market Place, Bulwell c1930s This view shows a cottage, off the Market Place. The mill is shown in the background. The Horton family lived in these cottages in the 1930's

NewBasfordlad 3,599
One of my main memories of Bulwell market place was the weekly arrival of the NCB wages truck to the bank on the corner, always escorted by a couple of car loads of miners. Would have been a very silly villain who tried to nick their money!!
The Engineer 612
The 'colour works' in #3 and the chimney in #5: was that Percy Andrews dye works? Enigma1st - if you have any other info on residents, it was the Bennett family I was researching. The Bennett's daughter married my uncle Bernard in 1932 so I'm guessing they were there around that period. All I have is 'lived in a cottage on Spring Road'
Enigma. 1,533
The 'colour works' in #3 was a cement and plaster place according to a 1875 map - the percy andrews dye works was further down the road near the junction of jennsion street where tescos extra now stands
Enigma. 1,533
Bird's eye view of Bulwell from the roof of St Mary's Church. c1980s- looking at the old map i think the cottages would have been where the red box is
Cliff Ton 10,435
Based on the recent comments, this is from the 1950s. The place I suggested in post #3 is named here as Charles Terrace (the top arrow). The area marked by Enigma1st in post #14 is the lower arrow and could be a group of cottages.
The Engineer 612
I reckon the lower arrow marks the spot I was thinking of (the Wilko's car park area) though don't know how the residents would have gained access (Spring Road vs. Market Place). Incidentally, another property shown is Church House; my uncle and aunt lived there for a while (meaning my aunt didn't move far from her parents across the road).
