LizzieM 9,497
Like Catfan said on this thread 5 years ago! Unfortunately the electorate of this once fine City can’t see what damage the Labour Council has done over the years, and they still get voted in. In our constituency we have that silly little new Labour MP Nadia Whittome, the ‘Baby of the House’ at 23 years of age. She has no experience of life and should never have been elected to serve our community but I know why she was .......where we live there are University Lecturers, school teachers, NHS Doctors and nurses and people who work for companies where there is a big Union influence. In the early days of Covid she tried to get publicity by helping out at a local care home, I understand she worked there for just a few days in the first month and then went running to the media to complain that the staff didn’t have any PPE, just to get at Boris. A completely untrue statement according to the Manager of the home. And other thing, whilst I’m on my soap-box, even Paddy Tipping the Police and Crime Commissioner is an ex-Labour MP. What chance do we have for change?
catfan 14,793
Council tax payers in Nottingham deserve a full & open public inquiry how the council are losing money hand over first. This city has one of the highest council tax levels in the country. It can only get worse. All those lot do is blame central government for the Labour council mismanagement.
catfan 14,793
Police & crime commissioner Paddy Tipping employs an assistant to help him. The wife of Nottm north MP Alex Norris.(labour) This new job was not advertised. Just shows how the corrupt council work. This new part time position pays £60k pa. Corruption at it's best. 4
philmayfield 6,089
The problem is that the City councillors are political idealists and not businessmen. The sort of people that are needed to run a city should have business experience at the sharp end and this lot have none. Politics these days is haven for the second raters; the first raters are too busy and too involved in running their businesses to find time to run for office. Neither would they be socialists. Stuart.C 483
The only good thing for the City to come out of this is managing to get reportedly over £20m (but reports seem to have disappeared now) for the RHE customer list. If RHE had gone bust Ofgem would have transfered the customers to other suppliers who would not have had to pay RHE anything. At around £200 per customer name it seems a high price to pay but B.G will easily recoup that. Even with the thousands if not 10's of thousands of RHE customers like me who will either not transfer or will not renew at the end of their current deal. They will be trying and in some cases succeeding in selling; Boiler maintenance plans. Unnecessary Heating system Powerflushes New boilers at twice the price an independent installer would charge. Energy saving controls. Whole house maintenance plans. And a host of other money making products. Together with persuading people to have Smart meters installed, for which they either get paid or are not penalised for failing to meet targets for the install of the meters. The Engineer 612
Paddy Tipping's deputy (wife of Alex Norris MP) also used to be the Regional Director of the East Midlands Labour Party. https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/nottingham-news/nottinghamshire-getting-new-61k-deputy-4192738
philmayfield 6,089
The whole set-up has an unpleasant odour about it. However I live in the Newark area and my MP is the equally suspect Robert Jenrick so it's not just Labour who are tainted.

Jenrick's wife has a lot of interesting connections to the Israel/Russia oligarchs. I understand his children have Israeli passports.
