Compo 10,326
We had our first frosts in the Far north of Scotland last week. Have now taken in the dahlias and making space in the polytunnel for the less hardy pottted plants. Any sign of frost in Notts yet?
MargieH 7,594
Don't know about Notts, but here in Cambs it's still quite mild, although getting a bit chillier I think
TBI 2,351
Why have the weather people recently started using the term ' grass-frost '? Never heard that one before.
NewBasfordlad 3,599
Here in Notts it has been quite mild, not proper Goose Fair weather at all. Lowest temp so far in the greenhouse has been 8'C
nonnaB 4,893
We haven't had frost yet in Italy. The weather is crazy, a few weeks ago we were still wearing tee shirts and shorts then as always the end of August beginning of September it rains and turns cold. It gradually gets a bit warmer during the day , not enough to wear a jacket though, then at night it gets very damp and cold. Now the last few days we've had some severe storms. The Costa azzura. and Liguria have been lashed by tornados and very heavy rain. Streets have at least 2 metres of water. It's autumn again. We have 40 degrees in the summer which is unbearable and never ending then as soon as autumn arrives it's heavy rain, floods, land slides and people losing their homes. It's so sad and the worst often happens just before Christmas. Many people live in areas where this happens every year. They clean up and expect the same thing to happen again next year. Bubblewrap 3,815
Not yet here in North Leicestershire (I'm 500 yards from the Notts border) The council usually turn the water off on the allotment site the first week in November.
Guest
We had one frost last week, but windows are fogged up every morning and loads of birds at the feeding table.
carni 10,094
We went out cycling at 2pm today here in West Midlands and it was so mild; even the light breeze was almost warm. It was warmer outside than in our house. We have one of the high ceiling semi's, quite dark inside even on a sunny day. No sign of any frost yet.
BeestonMick 263
The mushroom heads will be running around to get the harvest before the first frost Quite wet but warm here in Cardiff.
Bubblewrap 3,815
Well at least there are no brass monkeys running round looking for a welder ................... Yet
Chulla 4,946
Actually BW, the monkeys would be looking for a brazer - you can't weld brass.
BeestonMick 263
You can tig weld brass (in a fashion) but chasing monkeys with a tig welder over your shoulder would be a tad difficult.
Bubblewrap 3,815
Especially if they(The Monkeys) climb trees.
