I am not sure how exactly it works but the P2P client uses that torrent (filename.torrent) file to locate bits of the target file in the system. You download from multiple Peers worldwide. SEEDS are peers withh 100% of the file, LEECHERS are peers with only part of the file. There are legit torrent downloads as well as pirate. One use is downloading and watching TV programs worldwide.
