carni 10,094
Thanks for your support again everyone. It means a lot. I do know that there are a few of you Nottstalgians out there going through ordeals of their own and and manage to get by without adding to this thread. Those of you that I know about are all still in my thoughts. I never talk about my health issues to people face to face, other than close family, and find my release in tapping away my troubles on this thread on my Laptop; I know that those of you that read my posts are doing it by choice as we have the option of reading the posts we choose. I thank you for that. Please don't think I am walking about feeling ill, because that is far from true. Cakes are on order as we speak.
FLY2 10,108
I know I started this topic, and I'm sorry to say that in my wildest dreams, I never expected the overwhelming responses. I'm normally quite cold and unsympathetic towards other people's ailments, but have become far more aware of other people's woes. There are some people on here that I really feel for, and I don't always express my feelings towards them as others do. However, after having lost three brothers in law over the last three years, (one my age, and two very much younger) and currently other serious ailments amongst friends and family, I have become far more receptive of their outpourings. Anyway Carni, and all others on here with ailments, get well soon, and let's have some good news for a change, and hopefully this topic can be confined to the annals of Nottstalgia !

DJ360 6,728
Re my #873. Just back from the Doc's. It seems that my optimism was a bit misplaced. I don't think I'm in any immediate danger.. but I've just been told that I now have 'Mild to Moderate Left Ventricular Systolic Impairment'. This AIUI, means that my left ventricle is failing. ( What used to be called 'Heart Failure') My right ventricle is already fairly compromised by a lump of dead muscle from a heart attack and a totally blocked artery which is inoperable. The slightly disappointing part of all this is that it's the first time the old Left Ventricle has been mentioned. The recommendation was to increase my Beta Blocker to 5 Mg but my heart rate is only 60 on the current dose and I reduced from the higher dose because of problems so not a lot of room for manouevre there. Also increase in the other main drug.. 'Losartan'. So we've gone with just that for now pending a further Cardiology Appt. Also Doc recommended I speak to Cardiology before getting back into my exercise routine.. All good fun.. but I'm still here. Col
