Ailments, Aches & Pains. (Let's hear them here)

Here a Blue Badge is given on trust and you're expected to hand it back when you are no longer entitled.

This information is from my brother who has one  so I make two provisos...

1. He's an idiot

2. This is Derbyshire, each issuing authority may have different criteria..

Edit:

It didn't sound right when I phoned him so checked. Forget what I said except for the  bit where I said he's an idiot.

If your problem is likely to be cured within three years there's no eligibility..

Sorry..   :(

Being the newbie I am to N.S. I couldn't work out how to reach out to Physical Perfection to tell him to get on with life as you never know what tomorrow will bring. Obviously at the moment time

I'm a happy Bunny tonight Went for my oncology visit after I had the P.E.T. scan and T.A.C. a couple of weeks ago and all is clear after the scare I had. The next process is due in 6 months after I ha

Well I hadn't intended contributing to this thread but do you want to know how many staples I've got in my tummy?!!  Actually I'll spare you the details but I want to put on record that my experience

Just looked closer at 'Sentellins'.  I 'may' be eligible for a temporary badge if my Doc says I have a mobility issue which will last for more than a year.  Looks like I could also invoke Cardio issues.

Frankly, the sooner I can walk properly again the better.. cos I hate being like this and I love walking..but if I can get help for a while, I'll take it.

And I thought everything in hospitals was fine and dandy but it doesn't appear to be so. Its so frustrating to know you have to have an operation and you're in pain then you have to wait for maybe a few years. Normal channels here being Drs appointment, he gives a prescription to see specialist, we choose from either who we know or has been recommended by Dr or people we know, ring for appointment and it goes from there usually ending with a lurch forward from specialist and ends with an operation. Some appointment for ops do take a long, long time to be released but at least we have the opportunty to " shop " around.

Waiting for Dr to push ops forward takes a long time.

Yesterday I saw my Dr as I was worried I still had a bit of bronchitis and wanted to make sure I had recovered. My lungs were clean, so hes given me a prescription to have an xray just to confirm and for security. We phoned 2 hospitals and neither had immediate appointments and neither had the private clinic we use occasionally. The nearest one to us is usually available for immediate xrays and we just go with the prescription, but as with this pandemic everything has slowed down. Even the local chemist books these appointments but they couldnt give me an appointment either. So for the time being Dr says I'm fine so I'm going to leave it like that.

Hope Col you get an appointment soon.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got up.

Completely out of the blue my back was 'siezed'. It eased quickly so I did a bit in the garden.

To be precise I emptied out two large pots of compost which had had Tomato plants in them..and dumped the compost in a corner for using as mulch later.

Then I decided I was 'done'.  Back aching and legs both useless and painful.

It's not fun.

Colly, best wishes from me too.  You probably feel less anxious about the treatment now you’ve had the first one?

Colly, my husband had the occasional issue of not having had enough water before his radiotherapy sessions so had to drink more and then he had to stop off for a wee half way home at a supermarket.

Thanks Beekay, Brew, Catfan, DJ 360, Carni, MargieH & LizzieM..... LizzieM, I remembered to drink 3 glasses of water today, 2'nd  session went OK. Got yabbering to some very friendly people, we're all in the same boat so to speak. Nurse said "you're 10% of the way through your treatment now" I never thought of it like that, it'll be 15% tomorrow...

Colly, glad everything went ok for you.Thats my problem not drinking enough water. I was told by the surgeon that I should drink at least 2 litres a day ( water I might add) I find it difficult sometimes especially if I'm busy or into something interesting but I have got it sussed. Take 4 half litres and divide them through a 12 hour day, 9-12, 12-3, 3-6, 6-9. It works if you concentrate or have an alarm of some sort. I have a tracker and it tells me to drink more water but sometimes I ignore it or cant be bothered to find one of the many bottles I have lying around.

You'll make a lot of friends in RT and you'll hear all their reactions which they think they should have.

And before you know it you'll be nearly 100% through it, and then back to normal like nothing ever happened.

Out of curiosity I went for one of those free hearing checks which you see advertised.

I didn’t think I had bad hearing, but it’s one of those things which can deteriorate without noticing.

I came out of it reasonably well, but was offered the chance of a more in-depth check (still free) to see if they can find anything which might  be improved.

So I eventually might find the world is a much noisier place than I realised.

Just had a text from my surgery asking me to make an appointment with my GP to discuss the results of my test. Back in April 2019 !
