TBI 2,351
I see the Albert Hotel just to the left, not long before it's demolition.
DaveN 1,118
The fire can't be before 1966 because of the reg no of the police car in the foreground
Michael Booth 7,364
TBI, the Albert Hotel was demolished in the summer of 1970.
TBI 2,351
I may be wrong but thought it closed a bit earlier. They must have built the Strathdon quick, we used to go there early 1971.
Guest
My mother often took me in that hotel for a treat, especially after going through the mill at the eye hospital, there were 3 co-op shops,co-op petrol pumps..then the big store itself, anyone recall the glass "sweety" booth of the co- op adjacent to Ron's barbers?? Chulla 4,946
#3. Maison Leslie - sounds better than Les the barber. I wonder how much the word Maison added to the price of a haircut!
Cliff Ton 10,457
Was it hair-dressing for men or women ? I'd go to a place called Les the Barber; but I'd give a wide berth to Maison Leslie - sounds too camp.
