Guest
How sad,a great bass player as well as a radio broadcaster,'stewpot' provided a backdrop to my Saturday mornings for years. " Grocer Jack" and other lyrics still stick in my mind. Rest In Peace.

Cliff Ton 10,435
More than most people, he doesn't seem to have changed much over the years. Some people don't age very well; he hardly aged at all.

katyjay 5,085
What a shame, and not that old either. He lived in the same Surrey village as we did, used to see him around.
FLY2 10,108
Nice chap. I met him in Trowell Services many years ago and had a long and fascinating chat on the then current music scene. RIP.

darkazana 1,736
So sad. A favourite of mine as a child and as an adult. We were only listening to his Christmas show of Junior Choice a couple of weeks ago. RIP Stewpot.
OrphanAnnie 296
I didn't know he was a bass player Ian, but whenever I hear 'Grocer Jack' I am instantly transported to Saturday morning listening to Stewpot. RIP
DAVIDW 1,674
Bit late but just re-playing this youtube piece I posted a few years ago on the closing down of Radio London in 1967 , realised it's Ed Stewart doing some of the final links . You can hear him just after the first song finshes , (Beach Boys). (When I can borrow a reel to reel , must re-do this as I lopped the actual final moments off when editing !!! Duh !)
