PeverilPeril 3,279
A couple of generations ago the only people that wore track suits and trainers were footballers or athletes ..........! These days it has become a normal mode of dress. I OCCASIONALLY see someone that looks really good and cool in tracksuit and trainers. But the other 95%... oh dear!
catfan 14,793
Exactly, "chav" standard issue uniform these days complete with hooded top. A lot of men & women dress this way too cos they can't be bothered to dress properly, I have not worn a track suit since my school days & never will.
parmitage 127
In the 1950s my mate Cyril who went to Manvers walked round all the time in a tracksuit but that was because he had nothing else to wear. I agree that some look good but a lot do not suit the image - as John Bishop once said - Living in Liverpool is like being in an Olympic village. I am afraid I am still a collar and tie man Best wishes Peter

BeestonMick 263
Jeans, t-shirt and trainers man myself, all my life. I don't even own a tie or a collared shirt to wrap it around. All the jobs I've ever done the customers weren't interested what I looked like they just wanted their equipment fixed.

catfan 14,793
The more "savvy" piece of scum chav will wear usually a plain grey tracksuit complete with hooded top so not to blend in as it were. No logo's or disguinishing features either, they have learned how to defeat CCTV when they go on a shopping shoplifting spree, when caught the usual reply will be "wasn't me gov" or words to that effect. benjamin1945 16,139
The less 'Savvy' chavs,.......would wear bright yellow with their name on it...........and wondered why we always caaught em,......lol sorry about the double a's and others, ive got a stutter in my left hand.

BeestonMick 263
I had a colleague, also from Nottingham originally as it happens, same age etc, working with me in Llantrisant. He was also a died in the wool collar and tie man and he couldn't explain why when I asked him 'cos nowt in my life as a kid, maybe the odd wedding, required collar and tie. He had been a service engineer for a forklift company for many years so no tie there. I did eventually get him in to 'workwear' but he still insisted wearing a collar and tie. Horses and courses I suppose.
