Ashley 288
Whilst there are still signs of ww 2 damage remaining today in Nottingham we had a broken window in our house from the war till 1964 when we moved out. In the upstairs passage opposite the bathroom it was repaired regularly by my dad who taped cardboard over it! This was no enemy action but caused by an ARP man with a stone from the empty house next door which they used as a base after seeing a light showing from it. It is interesting to note whilst the rest of New Basford residents would be sheltering in their corrugated Anderson Shelters the team there had a solid concrete large shelter to protect them
