I always had a strong work ethic PP, never claimed any benefits & always had a job, even bringing up my 2 kids on my own & still working full time.

I consider your comment to be insulting to a lot of hard working decent law abiding people.

I volunteer as a community ambulance car driver and recently picked up a lady to take her to a hospital appointment. I greeted her with "hello sweetheart, going to the eye clinic are we?" "Tut tut" so

For any youngster reading this.   If you want a great education free and are prepared to work hard join HM forces as an officer.   My friends grandson went to what is now known as

Well said pp, the work ethic of most immigrants is very good, however there are those who are to the contrary, just as there are among the brits.

My recent interviews in Liverpool highlighted this to me, originally had 40 applicants for two jobs, after phoning each one,i reduced the number to 16, it was obvious that they didn't really want work, out of the 16 after interview i gave two jobs, and a further three i would have given work to,and probably will in the near future.

Both started today, and the company rang me and said how pleased they were with both, gave me alot of satisfaction to hear this, and also to have found work for two deserving applications,   i always look for nice people, cos i reckon nice people do a nice job,....

Granted, there are some immigrants who are here for a free ride but in my experience most of them are here to earn money to buy a family home in their own country or to support their families at home.  Let us not forget that there are many who were born here that also sit back and work the benefits system for all they can.

Many of the original eastern Europeans that settled here in the 40s and 50s were people who had managed to escape Nazism when their countries were overrun; these people fought for country in World War Two.  These and their children are the immigrants with whom I was brought up - I have a great respect for them too.  Voting to leave the EU is not racist per se; it is the individuals that voted 'leave' in order to be rid of immigrants and not the proposal that is racist.

Exactly Compo. I actually voted to remain, purely on the 'Better the devil you know ' basis, and personal convenience when travelling abroad, but immediately the referendum was over, I wholeheartedly threw myself into the Brexit camp. My desire to leave is based  purely on the fact that I want the UK to make its own rules / laws etc, and not be ruled by Brussels, Strasbourg or The Hague. EU immigration doesn't overly concern me. It's the rest of the world I don't want here !

Also, I've never got to grips with centimetres, metres, kilometres, litres etc.

Remember, we fought two world wars for freedom of choice, and long may it remain.

Their problem, Rog, is that they weren't educated at The Manning. If they had been, they'd have emerged with a rabid feminist ideology that women are superior in every way, men are a total waste of time and space and no male has any right to tell a female what to do, how to dress, where to go or with whom. Oh yes, these women need educating, just as we were.

As much as I carp about the Manning, they were right on that subject!

Both my daughters were educated at the Manning school and they don't take crap off anyone including myself but in saying that they are both hard working and very caring young ladies of which I am very proud

Eastern european women i have found seem to be the boss, think they saw how free our women are,and wanted some of it,and good luck to em,

My tootsie lady is svetlana, russian severe speaking, can imagine her driving a tank across borders, but she softens when i make her laugh, with some silly remark, about taking her out,    she's still laughing when i scream as she digs some awful spike into my toe,   lol
