Boris: A right tosser or our next PM - or both?

Recommended Posts

Until recently I have regarded BJ as an irritating if mildly amusing sideshow, but he is increasingly coming across as an unprincipled chancer whose ill-considered outbursts are becoming an embarrassment to his colleagues in the Brexit campaign. Imagine the year 2021, if Boris were PM and Trump Mr Pres! What a prospect!

I don't know who Boris is. As far as the Donald is concerned. I think most here see him as the best of a bad bunch. He is certainly saying politically incorrect things that a lot of Americans think. The left wing media try to paint him as crazy etc. they simply cannot conceive of the idea that some folks actually like him.

Don't misunderstand me. I don't have a vote here so the whole circus is somewhat academic to me. I'm not trying to start a political debate. Just to say don't believe everything your papers or the Bebe may say about this man. He knows how to play the media like a violin.

Boris wants out of the EU, I want to remain in, but I'd still back him as our next PM.

In February, Boris wanted the UK to stay in Europe. Then he decided he wanted the UK out of Europe.

He paints himself as being a nice bloke, anti-establishment and as a cheeky chappy. Tell that to the women he has used and cast-aside.

But be assured that Alexander Boris Depfeffel Johnson, old Etonian and member of the Bullingdon Club, has only one principle - which is to get himself into power, whatever it takes.

Lets be honest about this. No matter what the colour of the politics they all piss in the same pot & eat from the same trough.

Any politician would be better than this lot we have now.

The idea that "they are all the same" is the kind of lazy, cynical thinking that people like Boris Johnson and Trump would be very happy for us to believe. That then turns it into an entertainment contest where the funniest or most entertaining candidate wins.

If you are going to partake in politics (and I've largely remained on the outside) then it seems to me that you have to stick to principles and to the record of those you put your trust in. If you willingly help people turn it into The X Factor then you only have yourself to blame.

And besides, not all politicians are the same. Gandhi and Mandela were different for starters.

PS Of course, an alternative thought on all this is that people get the politicians they deserve. Or allow. Politics is the fault of the people so no one can avoid their responsibility for it.

Irritating I can deal with. 'Mildly amusing' even. But the more worrying thing about Boris is that so many people see him as some sort of amusing buffoon. Look a bit deeper and you see a shrewd and dangerous man playing the fool to disguise his more nefarious intentions. He is a proven liar and bully. And for the sake of balance I feel much the same about Bliar, for similar reasons.

End of rant.

P.S. I respect the 'non political' rules here. However, I go on other fora, where politics is discussed openly and mostly in a mature manner. The only rule needed is that people stick to the debate and the argument, rather than attacking each other.

Know nothing about Boris, but people over here are fed up with business as usual in the District of Criminals, they thought once a few lost their jobs two years back that the new ones elected would start to get us back on the rails...BUT, within a few days it was BUSINESS AS USUAL. To say the least, we are on track for the 2nd revolution in the states, there is an out of control President, who violates the Constitution and his oath of office daily, makes laws up as he goes along, in violation of Art1 sec1 of the Constitution. Congress should have impeached him years ago, tons of violations which are impeachable offenses.

Mr Trump is 1/a millionaire, out of the reach of those who bribe our politicians, 2/ he's an "outsider" who is not a politician, people see those as two pluses. 3/ he's not afraid of calling a spade a spade, another plus for the none PC crowd like most of us.

On the opposite side is Clinton, a career criminal, liar and corrupt evil woman, people in her own party are starting to wake up to those facts, AT LAST! Research "The Mena Connection" There are also some very good books on the market about her corruption regarding protecting "Slick" from rape charges during his time as Arkansas Governor and when he was President, he also lied under oath during his impeachment hearings, which is PERJURY, a charge most of us would have done time for! He got away with it!

Then there is Bernie Sanders, a left wing socialist, verging on Communist, well nobody in the world really needs a another communist leader! And now Joe Biden might be throwing his hat in, better known by his native American name Joe "Two Feet In His Mouth" Biden, he's just a muppet who lets his mouth run off without any cranial input, his "software" is corrupt, his hard drive runs in reverse. I think he was selected as Obummers running mate as a safeguard, to stop anyone in Congress from impeaching "Obummer". He's America's worst nightmare.

I don't support ANY political party, they all eat at the same pig trough, they all are tarred with the same brush, if I had the vote and did vote, my vote would always go to an independent. In saying that, if you read my post you will note Mr Trump, is a virtual independent.

Over here a politician enters Congress with a reasonable bank balance and retires a millionaire..How??? Their pay isn't high enough to make them millionaires??

I'm totally anti big government, anti political parties and pro independents.

If you want to see how fantastic wealth can be made from politics you have two prime examples in Kinnock and Blair. There must be dozens of others from all sides of the political divide but IMO these two are the most blatant............

I share your view that Boris is a midly amusing irritation, but he seems to be positioning himself to be the next Prime Minister and I find that prospect a little worrying.

He wasn't a particularly good Mayor of London.

Not everyone buys into the 'befuddled genius' persona and the bluster and lame humour. He should be judged on his record - and that is not particularly good.

His father, former MP Stanley Johnson has created a kind of dynasty. His other son Joe Johnson is in the government and his daughter (Rachel Johnson) is a journalist who regularly appears on TV to promote the Johnson brand.

I can tell you as a London resident that we rejected Zac Goldsmith because we didn't want another old Etonian from a rich family in power. We wanted someone who would spend his time making life better for us rather than himself.

Now I know that it's easy to be cynical about the power of voting, but if you don't vote than you lose any kind of credibility for political argument and really shouldn't complain when some idiot gets into power.

I don't disagree with everything Boris says, I just think he's another example of someone who hasn't endured the slog of trying to make ends meet - and I don't think he has the answers to our problems. The difference with people like Kinnock and Blair is that they promoted themselves as 'men of the people', but then just used politics to enrich themselves.

Lets see Boris v Trump they are both their for power nothing else,

People fleeing from there own country wanting a better life, but ending up drowned.

Girls captured and raped in Africa and never found,

People having there hand chopped off in the middle east for stealing food,

What a crazy, crazy, crazy world we live in.

PS can some one help me get this wrapper off my cream cake please? don't the supermarkets know I'm getting on in age and all these wrappings are a test for me.
