DAVIDW 1,681
A junction most of us will be familiar with . The "new" Lowdham by-pass and before a roundbout was put in. Happened on this pic whilst searching for something else but stupidly forgot to write down the date but I think it was 1939.(edit: just checked it was 1939) 3
philmayfield 6,115
I always wondered when that was built. It was quite advanced to build such a dual road at the time when it was not really needed. It’s good to see that someone in the ‘powers that be’ had the foresight to do that. They certainly failed when they built the Newark by-pass as a single road. I’ve just returned from Lincoln. The A46 is like driving over a ploughed field. I’ve never seen a major road in such a poor state.
Cliff Ton 10,457
The Low Level station has survived - as a Virgin Active Gym - and is surprisingly unspoilt.
