MapperleyMan 122
I heard some call them "Tip Tops" and some call them "Freeze Pops". News to me though. I call them ice pops.
carni 10,094
My kids used to call them by both names Tip Top or Ice Pop. Depending where they bought them from. The nearest thing we had in the Olden Days was a Jubbly. Cor, I used to make some good slurpin' noises with a Jubbly. Tipping it up every so often to drink the thawed orange juice. Luverly Juberly.

ChrisB 150
Who used to bit the crimped plastic bit off the end and then find the ice pop wouldn't come out because you hadn't bit low enough?
MargieH 7,599
Just done a quick poll at our Bible study group about what the ice thingys are called and it was 6 to 2 for ice pops versus ice poles. So even here on the Cambridgeshire Fens, there's dissension. Fortunately we agree on many other things..... None of them (except me and Paul) had heard of the word sucker, though - they insist it's 'ice lolly'.
Michael Booth 7,364
I used to call them....delicious.
MapperleyMan 122
#15 Ice lolly is a bit posh Margie. Mind you, I bet they are called that down Woodthorpe!
broxtowelad 175
#11 Such is life M.M. I hardly dare say (without wishing to offend) we called 'em Suckers!
Paulus 541
I remember them called Ice Poles, at least when they first appeared in shops,
broxtowelad 175
What was the proper request, Giuzzasuk or Gizasuk?
MapperleyMan 122
Unless I'm much mistaken broxtowelad most people used to give up sucking and bite off chunks. When you sucked the colour out of them they just became tasteless ice.
broxtowelad 175
That's why I liked fost go. Alternatively you could always wait until they melted and drink 'em.
MapperleyMan 122
True broxtowelad but there was no fun in that. They were better as ice.
MargieH 7,599
#17 MM. I always called them suckers, even tho I was a Woodthorpe gal!
