Southwell's Bramley Apple

Recommended Posts

If thats the case then the powers that be in Southwell should be ashamed, what a money spinner for them it could have been, lets hope it can be saved.

Nothing like brambly apple jelly with your roast pork.

As said...the Council should be bloody ashamed that they haven't maintained the garden and the tree...for Gods sake they have horticultural staff don't they?

We have a clone from the original Bramley Apple tree in our orchard which has been producing fruit for over 20 years. It came from Merryweather's in Southwell. I understand the original clones were done by Nottingham University and are now widely available.

I love Bramley apples and havent been able to find even a near specimen that has all the merits of the Bramley.

Its certainly a crime that its been neglected and hope it can regain at least some of its former glory.
