FLY2 10,108
I know Catfan, it's the character I'm decrying, not the actor. He's just doing his best to earn a crust.

loppylugs 8,427
Re. Idolizing the shifty, feckless, lazy types rather than the hard working ambitious types. Â Seems to me that if you are the authorities, ie govt.. Â The lazy useless welfare collectors are easier to control. Â They are unable to think for themselves. Â Just feed 'em plenty of mind numbing tv, make fun of the hard worker. Â Give 'em plenty of junk food and they will do as they're told.

FLY2 10,108
Re #21, of course the biggest rogue and work shy skiver on tv was Compo (no not ours) from Last of the Summer Wine. Awesome!

Jill Sparrow 10,304
A friend of mine was born in Shakespeare Villas in 1940. Their house was damaged by the Luftwaffe. Family name was Greensmith.
Jill Sparrow 10,304
It's a tragedy that those houses and the area were allowed to fall into such disrepair. The houses themselves are stylish...or once were...and have character, which is more than can be said for today's ticky tacky boxes.
