Multiple Word Meanings

Recommended Posts

How about another word game topic (Yes I appreciate its not everyone's idea of fun). It'll be something to do on cool autumnal evenings !

Can you list words that are spelt the same, but have multiple meanings or descriptions .

I'll begin with GRIT, Small chippings of stone, determination, and the clenching together of ones teeth.

Off we we go then.

Well Fly starting this subject has taught me something ( ha ha , there's another one ...also "taught" as in stretched ! ) .

Same word with different meanings (but pronounced the same) is called a "homophone".

Words spelt the same but with different pronunciation is called a "heterophone" . Google those 2 names and you will get lots more examples .
