All going wrong

Recommended Posts

County - After going behind to a seventh minute goal at home to fifth placed Barnet, County come back to win 4-1. They are now five points clear of Wrexham who have two games in hand. Macauley Langstaff scores again, could a move across the river be in the offing? Forest desperately need a striker. Saturday away at Yeovil.

Stags - Thump third placed Carlisle 0-4 away at Brunton Park. All four goals coming in the first half. Stags are now only three points from an automatic promotion spot. Away at Tranmere on Saturday

County - That man Macauley Langstaff put county ahead in the 4th minute and made it a hat trick in time on in the second half after a penalty goal by Rodrigues gave them the lead in the 83rd minute. Most of the goals in the 1-4 away win against Yeovil Town came in the last 15 minutes of the game. Five points ahead of Wrexham who have two games in hand. Tuesday evening sees them at home against 6th placed Southend United.

Stags - 0-2 away winners against mid table Tranmere Rovers. This keeps them in 5th place. They need to win the home game against 7th placed Salford City next Saturday to keep up the push for an automatic promotion spot.

Forest - A late equaliser by Chris Wood gave Forest a very creditable 1-1 draw at the City ground against title contenders Manchester City. Forest are now unbeaten at home in seven games since September. Away at bottom placed West Ham United next Saturday, surely a chance of three points there?

Listening to the media after a draw with Man City , hardly anyone gave praise for good defending. So the Premier Leagues  'whipping boys'  continue to climb. COYR

County - Hammer four past promotion rivals Southend United with Macauley Langstaff (31 goals in 33 matches) again scoring two goals. With that prodigious rate of goal scoring, how long before he is poached by one of the EFL clubs. Home against mid-table Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday. Still five points clear of Wrexham who have two games in hand. They play 4th placed Chesterfield at home on Tuesday 28th February. Come on you Spireites.

We grow them at our Allotment “purple Milan top” variety. I pick them when they’re small, slice them as thin as you can, marinade them in finely chopped garlic and olive oil and then put them in your cooker. Like eating turnip crisps lovely.

Saturday afternoon was dire for all the Notts team, all lost, some comprehensively thumped.

County - A 1-2 home loss. Now only two points clear of Wrexham who have two games in hand puts them in real risk of losing that all important automatic promotion spot. The took the lead in the 21st minute, Dagenham and Redbridge equalised ten minutes later and scored the winner with four minutes to go. Away at ninth placed Bromley next Saturday.

Stags - Thumped 2-5 at Field Mill by promotion rivals Salford City, sees them on the verge of dropping out of a play off spot. They fell behind with two goals in the first twenty minutes, pulled one back before half time  but two goals in six minutes saw the result beyond doubt. A further 2 goals in the last ten minutes finished the scoring and sent 6,700 Stags fans home disappointed. Away at mid table AFC Wimbledon next Saturday

Forest - HAMmered 4-0 at Upton Park in front of 69,000 West Ham fans with 4 goals in the last twenty minutes. This puts them only four points clear of the relegation zone. The concern again is finding the net, they have failed to score in their last three away games but have conceded eight goals. For them to survive in the EPL a striker is a must. At home next Sunday against fellow strugglers Everton. I am putting this down as a must win game.

Watched the Notts match on the box. Quite how Notts lost that match is beyond belief. At least two definite penalties ruled-out, tackles that were more suited to Murrayfield than Meadow Lane going unpunished.

I can only assume the ref was a fan of either Wrexham or Ryan Reynolds. I’m afraid the standard of refereeing in the National League is dire.

Sadly Chesterfield could not stop Wrexham from taking over the top spot from County as they lost 2-1 last night.

Wrexham are one point clear with a game in hand. If it comes down to the wire County have the better goal difference at the moment so let's all hope that "that man' keeps finding the back of the net so if push comes to shove County could win on goal difference.

County - That man again snatched a draw for the Maggies in the last minute +3 away against 9th placed Bromley after going behind to a 20th minute penalty. Disappointing that only 3,417 turned out for this game. Luckily Wrexham were held to a 2-2 away draw by a last minute goal at Maidenhead United so the difference remains at one point and a game in hand. County have two home games coming up, next week against strugglers Dorking.

Stags - After falling behind to a 25th minute goal the Stags then scored at regular intervals to come away with a 1-3 win at mid table Wimbledon AFC. Still out of a play off spot but only on goal difference. Next one is a difficult home game against runaway leaders Leyton Orient.

Forest - Home against relegation placed Everton tomorrow.

Crumbs! What a game that’s been, a 2-2 draw and the Forest boys never gave up.

Forest - After falling behind to a 10th minute penalty and equalising 9 minutes after that Forest went in at half time 1-2 down. Brennan Johnson scored the second of his brace to leave the game at 2-2 in front of 29,000+ crowd. In all 8 yellow cards were handed out, 3 to Forest. Was it a dirty game?

Having said that not beating a relegation placed team at home must be regarded as a fail and Forest are only 4 points clear of that relegation spot and I can't see things improving with an away game agaist 4th placed spurs next weekend.

What about Liverpool thumping United 7-1?

County - That man Macauley Langstaff scores a brace in a 3-1 win against Dorking Wanderers on front of 7,000 faithful fans at Meadow Lane. Matt Palmer scored the other goal. This leaves them second on the table with Wrexham 4 points ahead, now having played the same number of games. Home against promotion hopefuls Eastliegh on Tuesday night.

Stags - Their all-ticket home game against runaway ladder leaders was postponed. Two "season defining" very difficult away games coming up, the first at 4th placed Northampton Town on Tuesday night.

Forest - After going behind in the 3rd minute, the Reds were never in the game and only scored a consolation goal in the 85th minute. Now only three points clear of a relegation spot with a home game against 6th placed Newcastle United on Friday evening. The game after that is home against Wolves who are one place above them on the ladder. Hopeful for some much needed points from these games.

The bottom of the Premier League is very tight and all points are precious in the battle to stay up. Goal difference could decide it at the death which has to be a worry because Forest's GD is one of the worst. I thought Steve Cooper was amazing last season but he's not looking so good currently.

Not sure about Mansfield. They've been quite inconsistent of late but they may yet scrape into the playoffs. They don't look anywhere near good enough for promotion.

Notts continue to push the Hollywood dream team all the way. I hope they can get up as champions although Wrexham certainly have the edge at the moment. With nine games to go a slip by either team could make a huge difference. Squeaky bum time coming up.
Chesterfield look as if they will hang on for a playoff place. Imagine Notts v The Spirites in a Wembley playoff final. I don't think it will happen but if it did it would be a hard game to call. Notts have been pushed very hard by Chesterfield in their two games this season.

Things might be a little clearer by next Saturday teatime but don't count on it. My advice to anyone with a heart condition is don't follow football.

County - Come from behind after a 33rd minute penalty to win 3-1 at Meadow Lane with a brace from Ruben Rodrigues and a goal from that man Macauley Langstaff. With just over 6,000 fans on hand they close the gap on Wrexham to one point but Wrexham still have that game in hand. County face a stiff task away at 5th placed Barnet next game. Wrexham are away at 10th placed Bromley.

Stags - Their hope for an automatic promotion spot looks all but gone after an away loss 1-0 at Northampton. They fell behind to a 28th minute penalty and their cause was not helped when Stephen Quinn was sent off in the 66th minute leaving them a player down for the last 24 minutes. Another difficult game away at 5th placed Stockport County next Saturday. Their inconsistent form is starting to put a place in the play-offs at risk.
