Given the failure at the end of last season and the dismal start this year it was inevitable.

Having a revolving door for managers is not the solution, there is something more fundamentally wrong within the club.

A good start for Chris Hughton would be to clear out all the under performing players, particularly the international imports and develop a coaching/ scouting system to develop local talent. I would rather they lose bringing through local talent than lose with a lot of overpaid prima-donnas with no passion, pride or commitment to the club.

Hughton is an excellent manager and if left to it should get Forest on an upward trajectory. Unfortunately Zorba has a track record of interfering. Let’s hope he's learned that keeping a low profile is the best thing for the owner of a football club.

After 12 games without a win the Stags have sacked their manager, Graham Coughlan. He only managed to win 4 of the 29 games he was in charge for.

Bookmakers have Gary Caldwell at 2/1 and Nigel Clough is 6/4 second favourite for the job.

Sadly things are not getting better for Forest even with their new manager. With a third of the season gone they are still languishing in the relegation zone. I despair that it will get better. According to the pundits, apart from last years teams relegated from the EPL they have the strongest squad on paper. Somebody needs to tell them that the game is not played on paper.

Watching Match of the Day & seeing fans allowed back in the ground @ Liverpool & Spurs & the Millwall fans booing the players taking the knee, gave me a lump in my throat, Forest will be okay when we get 28/29 thousand crammed back in the ground, giving them some encouragement or even stick.

Can't argue too much with that one Ben, I must have seen Wally Ardron play when I was about four or five years old but can't actually remember it.

Obviously that is a team drawn over a few era's. The best and most entertaining Forest side I have ever seen is this one. Grummitt, Hindley, Winfield, Hennessey, McKinley, Newton, Lyons, Barnwell, Baker, Wignall and Storey-Moore

Forest 1966 team

I make no apologies to Brian Clough's teams that won the European Cup, great teams as they were, but nowhere near as entertaining as the 1966/67 side.

Ohhh, I knew a few of those lads, went to parties at John Barnwell’s house and saw a lot of them at the clubs in town. I understand that Pete Hindley is yet another ex-pro footballer suffering from dementia. We were at a ‘do’ last year with ISM and his wife, I’ve never told him I had a photo of him on my school jotter LOL

I think it is about time Forest got rid of their overpaid, under performing foreign imports and started building a team with local and UK talent.

If worst comes to worst I would rather them be relegated playing some some young local talent than the team they have now that is obviously costing a fortune in wages and just cannot seem to score a goal.

To this day, winning the world cup aside, Aye,Aye Ian's hat trick against Everton in the FA Cup sixth round was probably my most memorable football moment. The downside of that game of course was when Labone clogged Zigger Zagger and put him out of the semi final against Spurs at Hillsborough. I was right behind the goal when Jimmy Greaves mishit the shot that scored the opening goal he was clearly aiming for the left hand side of Grummitt's goal and it came off the left hand side of his boot and went in near the right post. I know there are many on here who will disagree with my view but you only have to watch the replay.

The reflex save by Peter Grummitt, from Jimmy Husband,

Yes and Terry Hennessey was there to mop up and clear the ball.

Peter Grummitt was a world class goalkeeper and would have walked into any other international side but at that time England had many top notch goalkeepers. Some names that come to mind are Ron Springett, Gordon Banks, Peter Bonetti. Grummitt played 3 times for England Under 23's

Not sure if this is correct but I am sure I can remember my dad telling me that Peter Grummitt played part of a match with a broken arm. He just had it sprayed with a pain killing spray and carried on?

Loved going to see Forest. First went with my dad and then graduated to the Trent End (not with my dad I hasten to add). I can remember seeing them play Derby and my friends and I being escorted out of the ground and some distance away so we were “safe” and then the lads left us and went back. I believe the Derby fans were run all the way to the train station. Think the same thing happened when they played Leicester. We were told to put our scarves away as well.

Memories of a misspent youth:rolleyes:

The opposing fans will be singing "Relegation to you, relegation to you, relegation dear Forest, relegation to you" and it may well come true

Even the Sheep are above us now on goal difference which is not surprising given Forest's goal scoring capability.

We are only three points above the Owls who started the season on minus 12 points and will soon be flying above Forest if we continue not being able to score.

I see the Stags home game was postponed because there was an inch of snow on the pitch? In mine and Ben's day they would have rolled it flat, cleared the lines and marked them with orange paint, used an orange ball and got on with the game.
