Oztalgian 3,278
Alan Simpson, half of comedy writing legends Galton and Simpson has died. This comedy duo brought us ground breaking comedy such as Hancock's Half Hour and Steptoe and Son Who can forget this brilliant piece of writing from the blood donor sketch on Hancock's Half Hour 'A pint? Have you gone raving mad? I mean, I came here in all good faith, to help my country. I don't mind giving a reasonable amount, but a pint? Why. that's very nearly an armful.' Alan Simpson RIP Thanks for the laughs
loppylugs 8,429
Funny you should mention that Oztalgian. The Tony Hancock blood donor sketch had just come to mind in connection with some stuff on the health issues thread. Talk about co-incidence!
catfan 14,793
Steptoe & Son, one of my all time favourites. RIP Mr Simpson.
Chulla 4,946
The best Steptoe episode ever. Simpson thought so, too.
ValuerJim 277
"I've got the law on my side!". "Yes, but I've got the knobs on mine". Classic.
katyjay 5,091
Enjoyed watching that, Chulla. Whenever I think of Steptoe and Son, I picture the old man sitting in a tin bath, all bones, eating a jar of pickled onions. He drops one, fishes around in the water, finds it and eats it.
