New addition to growing area:

Recommended Posts

Never satisfied with the amount of available growing area, I have made myself a new raised bed.  This time I have built it in the old goods loading bay siding.  It is ten feet long, three feet wide and sixteen inches deep and sits on a mud and stone base.  I only finished it yesterday so it needs a few days to settle before I can plant it up.  I took animal dung from the animal shed across the road for a base level and then topped it up with garden compost before adding a top layer of soil rescued from old turfs that I lifted from the platform edge whilst rebuilding it.  I finished it all off with a piece of trawler fishing net salvaged from the beach, so that I can grow climbing plants along it.

The can of champagne is to fill it with a mixture of veggies and ornamentals.
