Compo 10,328
Hmmm......there used to be grass here at one time! Here in caithness we have had no rain since the beginning of May; a very rare thing indeed. Here is a photo of what used to be grass. I dare say it will all come back as soon as the rain returns. 1
LizzieM 9,507
Fabulous weather yesterday for the bi-Annual Mapperley Park Open Gardens. There were 15 lovely gardens open to the public with the money raised going to local charities, Such hard work and dedication goes into this event and with the gorgeous warm sunshine it all paid off for those 15 garden owners. The roads around the area were unusually busy for a Sunday afternoon and it was evident that a lot of visitors had travelled from outside the area, judging by the amount of parked cars. There were activities available at some properties, Tea and cakes, ice cream, champagne, strawberries, beer, and plant sales. We only visited gardens that were fairly near to us as we had an 88 year old friend with us and although he’s very fit for his age we didn’t want to push him too far (not literally) up the hills. We went back home and had a BBQ and sat outside til Sunset. Hoping this weather lasts til September, despite the brown lawn! Here are just a couple of photos of the day. 4
FLY2 10,108
Is that your abode then Lizzie ? The weather had made a mockery of doors and gates. My back door has shrunk, and can see gaps . Front gate too tight. Shed door changed shape dramatically.

nonnaB 4,894
Compo, you should have said before that you'd had no rain. I couldhave had it bottled and sent to you because we've had a glut of it.

nonnaB 4,894
Compo hope everything turns green again. Driving around here the other day I marvelled at the vivid greeness of the vines and trees. We've had too much rain and we have underground streams so I think thats helped. We have everywhere that pales a bit in the summer but its always green but this year its exceptional. But would you believe theyve reduced the water pressure and every now and again a helicopter flies over presumably to check we're not using hosepipes or they are controling the vineyards.
NewBasfordlad 3,599
Very nice Ian, funny enough I have a rake of decking arriving Thursday we are going to turn what used to be a large pond into a seating area. I was going to use it for more veg but the lady put her SWMBO hat on and I know when I am not going to win
Compo 10,328
Went for a walk across Loch More today - yes, ACROSS! I thought i would sink wiht these holes in my feet but no.. The loch is now only about one quarter as big as it usually is and much of it is a wet bog instead of being ten feet deep.
