catfan 14,793
I do hope Ben gets plenty of sleep. In the QMC last year the ward I resided on was like a ward in a funny farm, sleep ? No bleddy chance. The highlight for me was having my catheter bag emptied ! However they did do a mean gluten free chicken curry & rice whatever one of those is. Tasted OK tho.

Jill Sparrow 10,305
Chimney sweep due at 0800. Time to think about winter fires! Comes round too quickly but fires are popular with the moggies.
catfan 14,793
Bless em Jill, nowt better than seeing a cat or dog hogging the fire. We had a dog years ago who always got too close to the fire & you could smell his coat singeing !!
nonnaB 4,895
Yes we too are preparing for the forthcoming winter. The plumbers are here serviceing the stoves and boilers etc. They're struggling at the moment as my son has no water. Its had low pressure all summer, at first we thought it was because of saving water etc but opposite us up on the hill they have been working, 1. A house was demolished and 2. A pool was being constructed. The dirt that came through our taps was disgusting and took a long time to clear. Now We've rung the water authorities and they say it may be the filter thats blocked coming from outside. They should be here this week Another thing my washer is caput. The other day it was spinning so fast and noisy that I thought it was going to launch itself. Oh well the house is in a mess anyway as when we put new doors and windows in all the crevices have to be filled in and we decorate ....but no we have decided to retile the floors so decorating will have to wait. Its just been a year almost of waiting and workmen everywhere.
plantfit 7,596
Just back from a trike ride, only a few miles today because it started to rain, coming back up the cycle track a van pulled onto it and parked up, I stopped and held out my arms as if to say "why" the driver got out and shouted to me "What you saying" I said "what i'm saying is you've parked on a footpath cycle path and blocked it) to which he came out with a load of abuse and slammed his van door, bloody ignorant sod, anyway arrived home now and got into some dry clothes, still enjoyed the ride though, it is now raining steady but is quite mild, going to put the trike away now and dry it off, going to Worksop tomorrow to the market, has anyone been and if so is it any good? it's billed as having over 100 stalls, quite a few more than our usual Wednesday haunt of Newark market (not meerkat)  Rog 1
Jill Sparrow 10,305
Sorry to hear of your problems, nonna. Last year at this time, I was getting ready for the new bathroom and boiler. That would have been followed by a new kitchen if it hadn't been for the serious illness of a friend who came here for 9 weeks to convalesce. Kitchen still waiting. Â I've reupholstered two Victorian chairs and a footstool...for the moggies. I usually end up sitting on the floor! You can tell who rules in this house.

loppylugs 8,429
911 today.. naturally there is much talk here in the media about the events of 2001.. To me it brings back the events of 1965.. Talk about nostalgia!!!!.. This very minute fifty three years ago I was sitting in Gedling church waiting for my bride hoping she hadn't changed her mind.. I don't mean this to be a downer.. It was a happy time and I'd do it again if I could.. Not a knock at the pesent Mrs. L who I love dearly.. I know there are others on here who have lost their spouses also.. Let's love 'em while we can.. it was all over so quickly.  Edited to add.. If you know a widow/er. don't be afraid to talk to them about their spouse.. Most are glad to talk about them.. Folks fear we will be upset, but most of us are not and if we are we can always say I would rather not talk about that.
