How's your day?

I am curious to know what an egg tastes like as I haven't eaten one since I was two. It's just the anticipation that makes me wretch! I've eaten frog's legs, brains, sweetbreads and that disgusting salmon that the Swedes bury in the ground for months so I'm not afraid of new culinary experiences!

I used to really enjoy a boiled egg, cooked just before the yolk set, very dippable wi mi soegers Then i got poorleh and had a stroke. No,  not the cuddley kind of stroke, the other kind. I don't know if it changed the way the mind works but it was over two years before I could even look at an egg. I slowly started to get them back into my diet, but even after thirteen years I still can only eat them with a very set yolk. No point in a boiled egg anymore.

Beautiful sunshine outside today, in West Mids.

Began with a touch of foreboding, as we've an outlaw staying till Sunday. Bit of a quandary though. Madam says we need to shop, so do we take her with us, and stop every two minutes for her to get her breath, or nip outside for a roll up,  or leave her here alone while madam and I do it. No way am I leaving her in the house.

All resolved...... Mrs Fly takes her sis, and I indulge in coffee and chocolate biscuits, and a long browse on NS......

That fried egg sandwich thing reminded me of an absolutely revolting thing I had from a chip shop once - curried eggs and chips which was a hardboiled egg with 1970's chip shop type curry sauce (little attempt at authenticity) on top of a tray of chips. The stuff of nightmares!

I think the chip shop was in Sherwood on Mansfield Road - can't remember the detail.

Gonna get me 'air cut for me birthday.  Need a trim round me lugs.

Then Jake to the vet for a routine check up and claws clipped.  Hounds seem to have very long claws.  He's always scratching Mrs. L to get her attention.  She doesn't like that!  I think I need to get him some socks but he'd tear 'em to shreds.  Most destructive dog I've ever owned.  No dog toys, he just shreds 'em up.

Expensive day coming up I think.

I've just had a couple of fried eggs with bacon, mushrooms and a (very thin) fried slice.  Bit naughty that 'cos I'm supposed to be as near as dammit carb free at present.  I like my eggs cooked with a runny yolk, but a fully set white.  Unless I'm having hard boiled.. that is, but even then I don't like them overdone.

What I really hate are eggs which spread out all over the frying pan like water.  You get this even with supposedly 'fresh eggs' with a long sell by date.  I finally found a shop in St Helens which does excellent eggs which 'sit up' in the pan.  Worth a trip down on the bus just to get a dozen or so.

It's because of school milk (always too cold or too hot) that even to this day, I can't bear to drink milk - or even look at it - in its 'raw' form. I can only deal with milk if it's hidden within something.

I was 'Milk Monitor' and proud of it.  It takes pride of place on my C.V.  :)

Haven't drunk full milk for decades, though I do use it in sauces occasionally.

My daughter has chickens that lay a few per day. You can always tell a really fresh egg from a shop bought one by the way they 'sit up' in the frying pan.

Edit:  and oh by the way I was an ink monitor so there!

I was in the school choir at Mellish. I was press-ganged. The music master was desperate for recruits. He said ‘Can you sing Mayfield’? ‘No sir’. ‘Can you read music’? ‘No sir’. ‘Can you see whether the notes on the music go up or down’? ‘Well yes, obviously’. ‘You’re in’!

I've seen dogs here in little Wellington boots! Declawing is illegal in the UK but apparently not in the USA.

Declawing should be illegal here too.  Horrible thing to do to any animal.  Never heard of it ever being done to a dog,  but there is probably some idiot somewhere that would do it.  Maybe they need a part or two removing.  Learn how it feels.

Vet visit went well.  Jake is fine but he does need his teeth cleaning.  The vet showed me one of his molars and it was quite discolored.  I don't mind getting it done but I hate the thought of having to knock him out to do it.

Seems to be my weekend for inadvertantly upsetting people on message boards .

As well as Mary above I upset an admin on a Facebook page thats called Social History .

This admin lady put up an old picture of an old Irish lady called Annie who had lived in a "shed" on the Liverpool docks and sold sweets and fruit and veg from it .

The old lady was reputed to be over 100 in 1914 when she died .

I happened to find the old lady at her shed address , on the 1911 census and that said she was a mere 86.

I replied saying that I hated spoiling a good story with facts but the old lady probably was not anywhere near 100 at the time of the photo .

Just got round to reading your post DAVIDW  it take's a lot to upset me I have a very board back, I just like the discussion that we have, I would never take offence, its just good old banter.

Not normally up at stupid o'clock but Masie has woken me up she was looking out of the window and making whimpering sounds. Looked out of the window and could see lights dotted around the park (UFO activity) unfortunately no, just security staff making sure nobody removes any of the fireworks for tonights display. Silas has never been affected by the noise and i am hoping that Masie will be the same, during her time racing she will have been subjected to a lot of noise so hopefully it will be a good night for both.

There was an organised display quite close last night and very loud at times. Moggies coped quite well, curtains drawn and food as a distraction! Unfortunately, there are others yet to come. My neighbour's dogs hate it.
