How's your day?

Bin there dun that Compo, embarrassing but better get it sorted now rather than later. Hope it goes well.

Col you wear specs, try taking them off and stare at the pic from about 18". Carni, Jill and I do the same thing. Don't look at the pic (if that makes sense) instead a steady stare at the center and try to disengage brain, just let your mind drift whilst looking at the same spot

Compo, if your still reading this thread then thought I might mention that after all my tests, it turned out that it was enlarged prostate and I was put on Finasteride tablets, which shrink the prostate. When that was all sorted, I was told I could come off the tablets I said "while it keeps my prostate under control, I'll keep 'em thank you". By the time you get to read this you should have had your test, so I hope all is well. B.

Not good this morning. Yesterday I went with my daughter to a shopping centre. I was in pain walking and was very slow. It passed after a couple of hours but came on again last night so much that I had to take some sleeping drops ( natural) This morning I can feel a sharp pain in the middle right hand side of my back that is what I can only descibe as an electric shock. Ive had these other times but not as bad. I can't think I have done anything different. I have to wait til 18 Dec for my new physio. I'm reluctant to take any medication as I'm on a special diet because on wednesday I have my yearly TC scan in oncology. I have to cut out a lot of things so it only leaves me with very little almost empty stomach. I'm so fedup with it, its so debilitatating . I want to do so much and its frustrating because I can't do it. I don't like being idle. Life is too short and I want to make the most of it.

Sorry its a depressing post but thats how I feel this morning. Plus next doors dog ran out of his gate this morning before the owners could hold him back ( they were exiting with the tractor) a car clipped him and by the time the owners got down the drive the car was at the far end of the road and the dog was lying on the ground. The b*********d , s*******o and any other deplitive I can think of. Needless to say the car didnt acknoledge or stop and they obviously didnt get the registration number. Poor thing it looks as though the two front legs are broken. The vet says to let him rest until tomorrow as hes in shock and tomorrow he will come to take him to the surgery. Ive just asked about him and they say hes resting. Hope he recovers hes a lovely Alsation only a year old although hes a (rompe scatole)  ( niusance) when he barks all night like last night but when they hurt.....you know how it is, you feel for them. The assistant chef with my husband adopted 3 dogs when she lived in Loano and brought 2 of them here when she came here to live. Yesterday her mother rang her from Loano to say that the other dog wasnt well. They had found a tumor, so she rushed down to Loano and brought the dog back to be operated on in Alba where there is a large veterinary centre ( we took our dog there when he was attacked by a pit bull ) a vet is there 24 su 24. Hope he goes on well too.

If you feel a bit down this morning forget this post.

Oh nonna, so sorry you've had such a dreadful morning.... is the pain in your back from a strained muscle or from something internal, do you know?  I hope it will soon get sorted.

And next door's dog being a victim of a hit and run driver - that's shocking, too.

I don't know how people can be so heartless....

i really hope  tomorrow will be a better day for you xx

I had the test last week, results came back ok. It's a simple blood test, hope all is ok with you.

The doctor has promised me a finger up the bum as well as a blood test! Should I feel special?!

:rotfl:

Thanks for the good wishes, gang - will keep you informed.

Sorry about  events, Nonna.  I can only second what Margie said.  You know how i feel about dogs too.  Grieves my heart that somebody can be so callous.  We've had one or two doing that to people here just lately.

nonna, I echo what Margie and Loppy said.

Compo, I'm surprised you haven't had a prostate palpation before. Here it is fairly routine for men over 55 - as is the PSA blood test.

(Perhaps you're not over that age, though. Didn't think of that, sorry)

Not posted for a long while but hearing the sad news of the death of Gordon Cragg (Variety Club) bought me on to pass on my condolences.
Any how my day? (Or rather past few days)

During the summer (Starting early June) I had my bathroom converted to a wet room and a 'through floor lift' put in..................... I've finally got the job 'signed off' today!!
There have been that many problems along the way, including at one point the original fitter being dismissed and a new one brought in to completely re do the whole floor as the water was running out the door instead of down the drain!  The first fitter had also run my central heating system with no water in it, vis a vis my boiler packed up!! Cost me £300 to get it fixed!
I've billed them for it (8th October) they got back to me last week to offer me a replacement boiler at 'cost price' ..... They didn't seem to grasp the fact I didn't need a replacement boiler as I'd paid for the old one to be fixed!!.... They finally came back (Yesterday) with an offer of £100 compensation (Regardless of the fact I've given them the receipt for the £300 I forked out!.... I give up!

October 2017 I have a face to face re assessment for my PIP, i was on 'enhanced' for both mobility and living allowances but the assessor deemed himself to be above all specialists and doctors claiming I had partially recovered from Multiple Sclerosis ! (An absolute impossibility) this time my PIP was reduced by £25 per week!
Finally on Monday 26th November I had a tribunal hearing at Chester Magistrates Court, to be in and out in 10 minutes having won my case, being told it will take about two weeks to get it all sorted and I'll get my 'back dated benefit' payed with my next PIP payment (Today) Nice and timely for Christmas thought I.....Guess what?..... Yup, it hasn't gone into my bank and I'm still on reduced benefit!.... So I ring PIP to find out what's going on to be told that it can take up to a further 40 weeks for them to get it sorted!
"So let me get this right, you can take the money off of me immediately, even going back to the day/date it was wrongly reduced, you can also reduce my wifes working tax credit (By far the wrong ammount too) immediately, but it's going to take nigh on 2 years for you to pay me back?!"
"Well we have a big back log"
Now that last statement doesn't surprise me in the slightest, as I'm on a FB group that is all to do with PIP and how people being wrongly treated and are all going through the appeals process, which , by the way, must be costing the DSS Millions !!

Now up to this past week..... Our fridge/freezer has started making a real loud noise which makes me think it's dying. Oh and my 'riser recliner' chair just died too!

I went to see a specialist yesterday about my Crohns disease,  to be told that I shouldn't be on a certain medication that I've been on for 10 years as that is not good where Crohns is concerned, she also told me I should be on a Calcium supplement as the steroids I'm on for MS can lead to osteoperosis and cataract problems!

So on the whole not a bad few days.

Beefy, does your Fridge make a loud humming noise??? If so, could be one of two things, start capacitor needs replacing, and /or the starter circuit relay needs replacing. Either way, get it done soon, or your compressor motor will give up the ghost.

Changed both in my fridge, easy quick job that doesn't need a tradesman. make sure you get the make model number, and do an on line search, get the part number/s and shop around online.

The capacitors get "leaky" over time, not liquid leaky, but electrically leaky, and their value changes over their life.

The one I changed out was half the value printed on it when I tested it.

Beefsteak, sorry to hear about all your problems , healthwise and otherwise. We also started work on a swimming pool in April and we never thought we would be able to use it in the forthcoming summer.  Likewise the men were blaming the previous worker. No one seems to start work and finish it in time and well.

As for your other problems I would have expected it here but not in Uk. Here the final word of a grumble is " we are in Italy"

Hope things sort out well for you.

Thanks for comments and good wishes all. Margie I dont know what has caused it. I had it a couple of weeks ago for quite a while but it eased off. Now its in a different place. I think it might be called Arachnoiditis. The only thing I can think is that I have to wear a type of

re enforced corset with 8 supports . I'm supposed to wear it all day walking , resting and sitting. Its generally very comfortable and does help with my sclerosis but yesterday when I put it on it didnt seem to be in a comfortable position, I repositioned it and it was better but started to hurt me while we were out pressing on the scar when I had my liver operated on. Today Ive done my exercises and rested quite a bit. I'm sitting in my special chair and I still have this shock. I will ask tomorrow when I have my TC scan. My neice works in radiography so see if she can shed some light onto it even as its a different thing but she has ways of finding out things.

Not been getting out much lately,, but today had cause to go to Netherfield,,whilst driving over there from Bulwell side,,it dawned on me 'not really been this side of Notts for a year or two.

Going down Westdale lane and Carlton and Gedling areas was amazed at how much new housing as gone up in such a short time,,and the huge retail complex in Netherfield,,

Finally got into old Netherfield and thats not changed much,, down Victoria road spotted the old Marsdens premises (now a security company) then nice to see the Coop still there,,(had a few lifters there),,crossed bottom of Carlton hill ,,Windsor castle ? gone i think,, didnt notice Police Station either ,,that gone ?.........

Nonna, that does sound painful for you - hope you'll at least get some sleep tonight.

ben, bet it was nice doing your little tour of the Netherfield area.  Did you get to Westdale Lane via Breckhill Road, Woodthorpe Drive or  up the road from Arnold?    Don't know why I'm asking really - just like to know these things... yes, I know I'm weird!

Got very cold this lunchtime walking my daughters dog, and was passed by an old lady who said 'Get all the fresh air you can, as you'll get none when you're dead'. Charming I thought. I'm normally the one who makes comments like that to the oldies !

Best wishes and a speedy recovery to all who are suffering.

Ben.  Briliant to hear you are out and about. If you can cope with the ubiquitous speed bumps on Bestwood Est., you must be getting better.  Did you take in Southglade Rd?

Must say that whenever I go through there now, it is very saddening.  To think how beautiful the fields were which extended out from Southglade Rd and Padstow Rd.  To think of all those lovely old railway lines gone.  And to think of the community on Bestwood in the 50s.  A real mix of folks from all sorts of backgrounds and pretty much thrown together by the post war housing shortage.  We all got on pretty well considering.  Given the level of development which has just wiped out all those farms and buried everything under housing/supermarkets and industrial units, it's hardly surprising that many of the current 'locals' fail to grasp what it used to be like.

The same can be said for many areas Col. I lived in Wollaton from 63-69, and again from 73-85. It was a pleasant area, until they built behind Grangewood Rd up to the railway line at Balloon Woods. The little shopping area on Bramcote Lane was good as it contained everything one needed. Nowadays, it's horrendous, so being as my branch of the RBS has closed down during the summer, I need never frequent the area again. So sad.
