DJ360 6,712
@ Ben Whilst I think it would be difficult for any man to ignore Ms Loren's undoubted assets.. I never found her attractive. Similar to Eric Morecambe's 'playing all the right notes.. but not necessarily in the right order...'
DJ360 6,712
On a point of order.. In my admittedly limited knowledge of Italian Cuisine.. surely the Pineapple idea comes as 'Hawaian' Pizza', and Hawaii is an American state... so we can blame the Americans? Oddly, my favourite pizza topping is Ham and Mushroom, usually seen in Italy I believe as the slightly more upmarket 'Prosciutto con Funghi' or thereabouts. It seems to have disappeared from UK supermarket shelves so I usually end up with Peperoni. To prevent the peperoni from going all crispy and dried out.. I usually put thinly sliced tomato, or mushrooms on top of it and add a splash of good Olive oil before baking. Proper posh me...
Oztalgian 3,218
DJ360 Blame the Canadians because according to Wiki the first Hawaiian Pizza was made by Sam Panopoulos a Greek born Canadian at a restaurant in Chatham Ontario in 1962. The name Hawaiian came from the brand of pineapple that he used!
nonnaB 4,893
My son received a video of a joke , its really good and funny. Dont know where he got it but will try and find it. As for pineapple on Pizza, no no no, but that doesnt say that someone likes it. Last year the craze was chips on pizza. Believe me or not it was popular.
Oztalgian 3,218
nonnaB, What is wrong with pineapple on pizza? it's yummo especially at the end of a hot day with a few beers. The trend here is for dessert pizzas, strawberry, banana and Nutella is one of the most popular.
nonnaB 4,893
Nothing, I love pineapple, but I wouldn't eat it on top of pizza. Whatever food Italian, english , german is nearly always converted into something not agreeable to others. So enjoy it whatever.

I’ve always thought that a pizza must basically have cheese and tomato (in some form) on it or it isn’t a pizza - it’s just a bread base with a topping on it. It’s like asking for a cheese and tomato sandwich but asking for the cheese and tomato to be replaced by jam!
Jill Sparrow 10,267
It's a bit like Yorkshire pudding, in a way. It can be filled with onions and gravy, eaten plain with a Sunday roast or with jam as a sweet. I've never been a fan of Yorkshire pudding, although my father's Yorkshires were spectacular! As regards pizza, it has to be micro thin based, topped with loads of cheese, garlic and tomato with a good sprinkling of herbs. The only outlet in Nottingham that ever served pizzas I could eat was The Pizza Place in the 70s. They disappeared long ago.
nonnaB 4,893
Pizza Napolitana is with a thin base as most most of them are now. My MIL used to have a Pizzeria and she made the pan pizza a thicker version as they used to be. Whenever she had any leftover dough she would fry it in dollops and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over them . We still that sometimes and its delicious especially if the dough is fairy light. MargieH 7,594
Mary, sorry to hear this about your family members. The trouble is that some of the younger generation think they’re invincible and that they won’t catch then virus but, as you say, a positive result affects all the people they live with.
