DJ360 6,729
I haven't commented on my day for a while. I've been trying to tidy up my 17 year old Civic. It's now had a good wash and wax, the wheels done with 'Wonder Wheels' (unpleasant stuff but it works) , a replacement for the broken bonnet release catch and other bits. I'm currently in the process of purchasing new number plates. Both are still legal.. but getting scruffy. I'm going to replace them with what was originally fitted...plates with the blue panel on the left side containing the EU symbol and 'GB'. Original..and in line with my anti Brexit sentiments. This will still be legal.. though if I drive abroad after Sept, I'll need a 'UK' sticker, on the old GB plate pattern.. oval with black letters on a white background. We're apparently moving from GB to UK. Despite my views on Brexit.. that's hard to argue with because UK includes NI, and is therefore a more accurate 'moniker' than GB.. at least until the Union collapses... That's Brexit for you... Oops.. politics.. sorry.. I also need a new foglight. Honda want £288 +vat. Sod that... I got two from China for 27 quid, so I can afford to get my local mechanic bloke to fit them. Bumper needs to come off and that means getting down on the floor and rolling about a lot. I don't do that anymore... ...Which leads me to my knees. Really struggling now. Getting out of bed or up from a chair involves pain. Even when I'm up and moving, more than a few yards gets painful and since neither knee now bends properly when I'm walking..I keep bumping into stuff... stubbing my toes etc. Just waiting to see the specialists at Wrightington on 1st Sept... but at this rate I'll be in a wheelchair by then. On a brighter note.. I've been eating radishes from my garden for a week or so. And today, we got enough Runner Beans and French Beans in combination to make a nice addition to dinner. I also have Tomatoes just getting ripe, Beetroot, Carrots and Cucumbers growing, and a row of Cavalo Nero.. or Tuscan Black Kale. I hope Nonna approves... I'll be pulling some of them as young greens, but with luck, also keeping a plant or two going into the winter..as it is apparently winter hardy. A bit of nice chewy Kale in winter is good in stews etc,,and full of Iron, fibre and vitamins. Right.. I've just had a rather nice Sambuca...with lots of ice. I think I'll have another before turning in. I love all of the Aniseed drinks.. Sambuca, Ouzo, Pernod, Ricard etc.. Night..
nonnaB 4,895
Sambuca con la mosca? DJ But without the ice. Sorry.
philmayfield 6,130
Is that the one you put a coffee bean in and set fire to?
mary1947 2,079
I think its all around to DJ360 to buy our fresh veg, maybe then in stead of haveing to try and get up off the floor, he can treat himself to a new car. ps Fords are giving you £1,000 in exchange for a new/used car.

Jill Sparrow 10,305
Careful, you'll have Brew trying that now he's finally fallen off the wagon!
philmayfield 6,130
The MD of our Dublin subsidiary company always used to have a Sambuca with his coffee. I enjoyed watching the flame ritual. I initially thought it was a strange Irish custom like his crossing himself whenever passing a church and having to get dispensation from the priest to eat meat on a Friday when he came over here! nonnaB 4,895
It has been known and lips have been treated for burns. Also if it tips over when lit and you have a lace tablecloth have a wet tea towel ready. This happened with us at the restaurant in ROT at the table of one of our local drs. She rushed outside to collect something from her car.
philmayfield 6,130
A couple or three Sambucas and you will fall off the wagon or your chair. You must remember to blow the flame out!
nonnaB 4,895
The bean helps to flavour the Sambuca.

I once knew someone who used to cross herself whenever she passed an RC establishment. Odd habit (no pun intended). I wonder why? Does anyone know?
