philmayfield 6,089
Bulwell did have a modicum of culture some years ago when it housed the Henry Mellish grammar school. It became a comprehensive, then a ‘sports college’. It went further downhill and was put into special measures. Sadly the fine building was demolished and the last time I passed by it looked like a bomb site.

But.. as I tried to apply my Strimmer to the untidy edges of the front grass, it exploded.. launching lumps of orange plastic across the road. The missiles missed my neighbour and his car, bouncing instead off a steel lamp post with a loud ringing sound... which was interesting.. So. Jill Sparrow 10,267
Peter Bowles attended Berridge for some of his primary education, so he must have lived nearer to the school than Kersall Drive at the time.
Cliff Ton 10,435
Coincidence; only yesterday afternoon Peter Bowles was in a film on Talking Pictures TV titled '3 Hats for Lisa'. Very dated, but also fascinating for showing life in the mid-60s. In this clip he appears around 2:03. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LX7M1G6wvtw

Cliff Ton 10,435
I admit I'd forgotten I ever did that........I took it off a couple of weeks ago, when I decided that things in general were looking a bit better than they had been in previous months. And to make it even more topical, I'm having my booster on Wednesday.

trogg 2,002
DJ I know what you mean about forgetting names , I found the best way when meeting people whose name I have forgotten is to introduce myself, they then give me their name and it solves the problem. Often or not they are in the same situation and have forgotten names, its an age thing. lol
benjamin1945 16,118
We are lucky in Nottingham.........just call everyone ''DUCK''
Cliff Ton 10,435
My mum and dad always spoke to each other as 'Duck'. I honestly never heard them address each other by their names.
Brew 5,377
Today I is mostly peed off. Finally saw a doctor after a three week wait who informs me both my ear drums seem to have gone walk about and I must make a appointment to see a specialist. Not only does the chemist not have the items on the prescription but the online appointment site informs there is a 45 week wait for treatment and will not accept bookings. Beekay 5,094
Today I have completed 'er indoors' list of birthday presents. She is now the proud owner of a brand new kettle, and, and, a really out of the box battery operated tin opener. Spoiling her or what? Think I'll get her a puncture outfit for Christmas.

philmayfield 6,089
It’s better to buy useful, practical presents rather than fripperies like flowers and chocolates that only last for a few days.
