plantfit 7,593
Eye test this morning in Lincoln, appointment for 10.05 so well before the students get up, the place was pretty quiet, a lot of the big shops have closed down leaving just a few cafes and fast food outlets, mobile phone shops / repairers and nail bars, anyway eyes are good with no problems, a bit peeved at getting mugged by the council though, £3.90 for two hours to park the car then have to run the gauntlet of the open urinal between the car park and the high street, Hope you all had a great day though  Rog
DJ360 6,728
Quiet day pleasing myself again as the Boss is at daughter's. Went around the corner for a chat with an old acquaintance. Only a few hundred metres. Almost back home and concentrating on keeping correct gait, when my new knee suddenly got excruciatingly painful, such that I couldn't put weight on it. Found a very ungainly way of limping home and called the Orthopaedic Helpline. Left a message . One step forward. ........
MargieH 7,600
Col, are you still using a walking stick.
DJ360 6,728
Hi Margie, Yep. I carry a stick and use it to relieve whichever knee is currently hurting most...
letsavagoo 963
Just eating breakfast when the windows started rattling with a deafening roar. The red arrows directly overhead. Only 3 of them and 2Â with smoke on forming the heart shape smoke trail. Gone now. They often seem to practice directly over us. I expect Phil heard them today. philmayfield 6,130
I did indeed. Right past the bedroom window as I was dressing. They’ve not been for a while as there were complaints about horses being frightened.
plantfit 7,593
Still mainly practicing over Scampton daily, Red leader and a couple of others practice over Syerston, The American F15's have been flying over here for the last two nights between 7 and 8, various heights between 20.000ft and 4000ft and speeds between 280kts and 500kts, all F15's are from RAF Lakenheath  Rog
philmayfield 6,130
Will they still practice over Scampton when it potentially becomes a migrant hostel? Don’t want them complaining about the noise.
siddha 825
I think practicing is also serving to let countries to our east know that we have some , albeit limited, capacity.

Phil I think if this stupid idea goes ahead they will achieve what the Luftwaffe failed to do in WW2, they will wreck the place and destroy it's history, after all it's not their history so why should they bother  Rog

I worry about my two boys, especially the youngest one, constantly Ben.  He’s spent most of the past few years working overseas, mainly in Tanzania and Rwanda.  When he’s in Tanzania he nips over to Zanzibar for the weekend (which looks idyllic)  just a quick ferry ride.  He’s in Central America at the moment running construction contracts in Suriname. He rang us yesterday and suddenly the line went dead.  We just thought it was a bad connection but he called us back a while later and said he’d been driving through a forested area and was surrounded by armed police, wanting to know who he was and what he was doing there.  He’s well-travelled and no much fazes him but I think that experience shook him a bit.  As a Mum it’s hard not to worry!
