Beekay 5,143
Carni, you may interested to know, you will have consumed 7,520 cakes between you. Bet you were feeling a bit sick after that lot.
carni 10,094
Blimeh, BK, that's a bloomin' lot of cream cakes. I think I'd better stick to a jam donut today then! Not literally.
Jill Sparrow 10,305
Despite Beekay and his calculations, he's wrong. Â The correct answer is...NOT ENOUGH!! Â
Beekay 5,143
Another negative response... 8 cakes per 100mls= 80 per 1000= 80 x 94=Â 7,520.
Jill Sparrow 10,305
Still not enough, Beekay. You can never have enough cream cakes..or, in Ben's case, women!
katyjay 5,091
Re: car serviced. I have a Kia Sorento and take it to the dealer we got it from for servicing. They do a great service plus oil change. The full amount was a little over $35 and then they subtracted insurance. Not sure what that was about but I finished up paying $13.32. And, they washed my car too. Can't complain about that.
philmayfield 6,130
I think we're ripped off by main dealerships in this country. As soon as my car is out of warranty I will use an independent specialist who charges less than half the price. Â

denshaw 2,872
If you have a car under warranty does it have to be the main dealer that services it?
mary1947 2,079
My car is due for it's MOT and its telling me (on dash) that it's ready for a service. So I have booked it in at my local garag. Paul owner is doing it for £200 it ony wants oil change and filter. Brew what have you got is it a Rolls Royce.  denshaw in answer to your question normaly if your car is still under Warranty then it sould go to the main dealer. Brew 5,416
Denshaw, they don't stamp a book now, the service record is online and only main dealers have access apparently.
philmayfield 6,130
I think you'll find that the independents have access to the service records on line as well. European ruling!
TBI 2,351
You do not have to have your car serviced at the main dealer to maintain warranty, that hasn't been a requirement for years under EU regs.  I have found Mercedes are one of the worst for servicing costs and I've picked them up a number of times for mistakes too. I wouldn't buy another. Our current Jaguar had a 3 year servicing deal for, I think about £450, bargain.  The problem with not having a main dealer FSH with prestige vehicles reflects on re-sale values when you want to change it. When I had a Mercedes I never took it to the main dealer for servicing, I used MB-Nottingham on Lenton Lane a couple of times and then took it to a little local garage in New Basford.  This chap had all the stuff to deal with the in-car computer etc. and was a lot cheaper.  My Audi goes there now when necessary.
Brew 5,416
When my Mercs ran out of warranty I've used both those Lizzie. The guy with the ponytail at the Basford garage sorted my Mercedes Brabus out in minutes where Lenton lane failed.
LizzieM 9,507
My phone rang just as we were about to have dinner earlier this evening. I saw it was a FaceTime call from our son, typical ...... always calls when we’re eating.  When I answered it I discovered it was our 7 year old granddaughter who has gone to stay with her other granny in Czech Republic for a school term, until Christmas.  She’s got her daddy’s iPad over there with her which is why I thought it was No. 1 son calling.  We had a great little chat, she was trying to teach us a bit of Czech and showed us how to write words etc.  The schools have closed there now, due to Covid, which is a shame as school was the reason for her to go.  My son is missing his little girl so much but he knows it’s doing her good, she certainly seems very confident  and happy, for now anyway.  Full marks to Czech granny though, I don’t think I could cope with a little one 24/7 for 3 months, it’s been a long time since I had to do that.  When the FaceTime call finished she sent me a text to say she loved us and speak again tomorrow. Bless her.

DJ360 6,729
Evening all!  I've been a bit busy and a bit 'below par'.. for a week or so.. but back on track now... I think.  Getting the garden 'battened down' for the winter. Getting my car through the MOT. No problems. Getting Mrs Col's through is a bit more of a problem and I do keep suggesting that she'd be better off turning it upside down and using it as a skip.. but she's not biting. And to be fair .if she can get another 12 months out of it for a couple of hundred quid.. it's still far cheaper that a new one... And she's not proud..  Still plodding on with the decorating.. though as further lockdowns continue.. there really is no rush.  Still eating the last of the Runner Beans and we have loads frozen. Also still scoffing the Tomatoes. 'Crimson Crush'.. a fine outdoor variety and definitely the best I've ever grown. Fabulous for flavour and quite 'meaty'.  Boris v Greater Manchester.. See the politics thread.
IAN FINN 808
Mary it is costing you as much for an oil change as it cost me to buy my 1960 morris 1000 in 1964. Hate to think what a nice morris 1000 is worth today. Â
mary1947 2,079
Hi Ian its amazing what you get rid of just because you want to get a bettr model. We had one of the 1960s mini which we traded in for a mini traveler, thats the mini before BMW took over. Wish we still had our mini. Do they call it progress?  ps Petrol 4/6 gallon

DJ360 6,729
Mrs Col's car failed MOT on.. among several other things.. 'foggy' headlamp lenses. So after a bit of research, I shelled out £20 for a Holt's Headlamp Restoration Kit. It turned out to be very good value and I spent a happy afternoon on Friday sanding and polishing the lenses of Mrs Col's headlights back to a near new finish.  Today (Sat) I was keen to visit a small local nature reserve on the site of some former railway sidings and a long closed colliery. The weather forecast said: ' Mostly overcast with light showers'. I don't mind that so set out.. obviously forgetting that in the North West.. 'light showers' means 'Deluge of Biblical Proportions'. Still.. there were lots of interesting fungi to be seen,.. some of them swimming... and it got me outdoors for a couple of hours.
Brew 5,416
I've brought quite a few headlamp lenses and motorbikes screens back to near new condition with 50/50 Tcut and water.
