How's your day?

Don't worry, Beekay. If Carni's hubby turns up at Trogg's, Mrs Trogg will sort him out.

Then she'll sort young Trogg out!

Knowing my luck, she'll probably come and sort me out too.

I think most men would be pleased when other people think that their wife/girlfriend is attractive!

Thankyou mi dears, I always thought we  looked typical of the times. I think I had SueB48s coat on and Hubbs had his mates jacket on. Note the 10 Park Drives, my half pint of Cider and Chrisses Bitter on the table.  Spoilt me rotten on that first date.

Hate to spoil the compliments. I was really enjoying them, but most of me is partly plastic these days. slywink

Carni, it’s wonderful that after 50 odd years you two are still soulmates and the best of friends, it’s a fab photo of two teenage ‘lovebods’ at Skeggy!

Got my flu jab at Boots this year instead of waiting to be called on by new doctors surgery. Rang first and they said usually you have to make an appointment But they had a good supply so I could just come down and get it.
Queued up and then said what I had come down for, there was a whispered consultation behind the counter and then I was asked if I could tell them my age. Said I was 71 and there was a bit of a pause (I was thinking I am not going to be happy if they now say I can’t have it) and the girl who I usually get served by when I go in said goodness you don’t look that old!
I skipped all the way home:jumping:

Lovely surprise this morning. A message on FB. When I was 14-15 Mrs Chulla and I had penfriends in USA. After a while Mrs C stopped contact but I kept mine up  finally meeting in 1966 when I went to KY to meet her. The following year she came to visit me in Nottingham and my parents took us on a tour of Europe. Over the years we lost touch and then found each other again but this last time I had completely lost track of her then to my surprise she found me on FB and now we're in contact again. Not bad for 60 + yrs is it?

My rotten Hound dog caught two baby rabbits this afternoon in my overgrown veggie patch.  He gave one to Bailey, his buddy.  The other was in his mouth.  I tried to remove it and he threatened to remove my finger.  I wasn't going there.  I stuck an empty bucket on his head and he dropped it.  I am not his favorite human right now.

Nobody can ever say to him, "You ain't never caught a rabbit and you ain't no friend of mine"   I was surprised at how nasty he got when I told him to drop it.  I'm not messin' with him.

Felt sorry for the two little rabbits, both dead by the time I got to them.  Nature in the raw I guess.

Only just seen this Jim. Thanks for asking.

Much better thanks.  Getting up and down is still very painful. Standing/walking is a constant ache, but bearable.

Last Weds I could just about walk a few steps with two sticks and 60 mg Codeine every four hours. Getting up or down was mind blowingly painful.

Today I went for my first proper walk in 8 days. A bit under 3Km. Slow and steady, but with no pain killers.  Good progress I think.

My tabby has, in the past growled at me when I've tried to remove birds from her mouth!  She'd have had to drop them to bite me but was threatening with her claws.  She was 15 yesterday and, fortunately, seems far less interested in birds than when she was younger.

It was nice of Jake to share his catch with Bailey!

Loopy I too am sorry about the two baby rabbits but instinct has to be understood.Whats yours is mine and what's mine is my own.

One of our dogs is a big softy, rolls on her back for no reason only to have her belly rubbed or tickled, she's very very protective of the little chihuahua and forces herself in between her and whoever is coming close, but when she has something in her mouth now I recognize the signs she's not going to give in without a fight so I just leave her and try to distract her and then she drops it.That happened a while ago when I thought I could get it quickly but it didn't work out like that she snapped and in the process bit me. She'd never done that before.  Our other two dogs will just give things up if we try to get them , my daughters dog won't she has a mind of her own.

DJ  I've just seen this post about you have problems with your back , I can sympathize. I had problems for years but mine problem was hereditary. I lean to one side but it was very obvious but eventually sclerosis crept in and last year had an op to correct it. It was the best thing I did, I feel so much different. Hope it doesn't get worse so take it easy and do what the doc tells you.

My husband had 2 slipped discs years ago and I remember I had to help him walk to the bathroom. Sometimes he couldn't even do that. He had to sit in a chair and I would drag him from room to room. It's a good job we have tiles, a carpet would have been impossible.

Are you saying that going on Nottstalgia actually drives you to sleep? Maybe somebody ought to advise the Insomnia society, they'd pay a fortune for the recipe. Cheers Mary, take care.

Jill.....I don't think he was being nice to Bailey.   Just couldn't carry two in his mouth at the same time.   I was afraid that even if I'd got it I'd have ended up with nis teeth in my hand before I could move away.   I was also afraid that if I didn't put a stop to it he'd run inside and proceed to tear it to bits in the house.   He's usually so friendly we forget he's a natural born hunter and will not give up prey without a fight.

Edited to add.   'Loopy!!!'  Nonna.  I may be one brick short of a load, but Loopy.       We'll just blame your Ipad.

Yes, we tend to forget that they have a wild side and aren't furry, domesticated pets all the time. We are much the same, I suppose, if others try to take what is ours from us. We're animals too. No better than the others and undoubtedly much more dangerous and destructive.

Meanwhile back on the joys of packaging  .....  and product from a certain Asian country.

Her indoors decided that I should change the handles on the vanity in the bathroom. "no probs" said I. After checking the spacing of the mounting holes headed of to the local hardware emporium. Having selected some suitable handles found that they came in packs of 4 and 6 and as I needed 5 of course I purchased the pack with six in it and heads off home. After using some substantial scissors to get into the packaging I found that the handles were screwed to a thin fibreboard sheet with screws that had a head that was like a Phillips screw but only had three points, a bit like a Mercedes star. Off to the shed to get my screwdriver set with about 64 variations of heads and found one that fitted. Then I pulled out the little bag that had the mounting screws in it and before I opened it I thought that does not look like enough screws and on counting them sure enough there was only 8, enough for the 4 pack, obviously packaged in error. I thought I won't drive back to the store I'll just use one of the existing screws, guess what a different size. Off to the shed again to see if I had got one the same size but no luck. Threw all the stuff in a bag and headed back to the store, the lady at the returns counter was quite nice and went to get a replacement, before I left I asked if I could open the pack and check if it was OK and guess what, not enough screws another pack, the last pack on the shelf revealed the same thing. Using her initiative she gave me one of the bags of screws from the other packs and I left for home. I then found that the break off notches in the screws were either too short or  too long so I had to cut the screws through the thread and file the end of the screw to get it to fit freely in the handle.

All in all a job that should have taken 1 hour took all morning.

No problem Nonna.   :)

There are many days, loopy would be a far more appropriate name to call me.  ;)

I have just brought a new book from charity shop one of Jodi Picoult called Second Glance and inside a little thought that I would like to share with you all. Some of you or all of you might have heard it before.

Thought or the Day

What if you slept?

And what if in youe sleep, you dreamed?

And what if in your dream, you went to heven

and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower?

And what if, when you woke, you had the flower in your hand?

AH! WHAT THEN?               Samuel - Taylor Coleridge.
