MRS B 280
Cliff Ton, he did admit he was in the wrong yes, said he didn’t see us. There was actually a notice on the back of the wagon to say there was a blind spot! At least no one injured, apart from hubbies prize Merc.

DJ360 6,353
Got up feeling distinctly disinterested in the day. Did the basic knee exercises but decided I couldn't face the extras given by the physio as they made my knee hurt yesterday Had a word with myself and decided to go for a walk and ignore the knee clicking .Got to the top of the hill and into the woods. Saw my first lot of 'Slimy Beech Cap' mushrooms. Walked back and was well knackered. Only 6400 steps, but most I've managed for a couple of years. 1
PeverilPeril 3,153
Nice day to finish up a four day weekend Started Friday when friends joined me on a trout lake which I book annually to celebrate my 'official' birthday. Saturday was our diamond wedding celebration where 4 generations of our family and some friends had a party in the local. 34 sat down for lunch then others joined us after. The highlight was giving presents to our 3 great grandchildren and toasting a loving and successful family. Yesterday I fished in our clubs 'fur and feather' contest in torrential rain. The last 2 hours were fine and the sun eventually broke through. I came 3rd but caught the biggest fish. We made repairs to or club HQ (Pub) for dinks and prize presentation. Then a splash and dash to attend the Coffin Dodgers' club in our local. Today is my proper birthday and had a lie in. Some very nice and amusing cards opened. Fishing club night this evening to put the finishing touches to myself (hopefully not the 'final' touches!) Mrs PP has been splendid throughout and I was so proud of her, especially at the party - a loving matriarch who looked lovely, even regal with her new sparklers  ....life is good. 10

PeverilPeril 3,153
Thank you all for those nice wishes. As is usual on these occasions the wedding photo album was passed around. The wedding photographer was RobL's dad Our daughter put together a splendid diamond wedding album for us. A compilation covering our 60 years together with sections from family and friends. It was very touching.

nonnaB 4,752
Unfortunately Jill the word is going round that he sold himself for a case of vodka. He is getting more pathetic the older he gets. He looks like a plastic “ Ken” He’s had so many lifts that now he can’t smile. I think now he’s having a paddy because things didn’t go the way he wanted.

We were sitting at some traffic lights in Leicester just after midday which were on red. The HGV1 in front of us decided he was going to reverse into us and totally crunched the front of our car. He admitted afterwards that he thought there was nothing behind him and as he was in the wrong lane decided to reverse and get in the right one! We’re ok but car is currently at the repairers. Good job he actually did stop as bizarrely neither of us even thought of getting out of the car, think we were so gobsmacked we were motionless. Good job it wasn’t my little fiat 500 and it was hubbies car. Insurance company were really good. Hooray just found out that the car is fixable and the insurance co are ok with it so a bit of  good news! Very pleased.
Beekay 4,275
Had my day made for me this afternoon. Took 'er indoors to the doctors this afternoon and while he was checking her over, he pointed at me and asked," Is this your son?" Such a nice lad, he's gone in my good book.
DJ360 6,353
More belated congratulations to PP. Well played Sir!! Â Just got back from my pal's house where I listened to the latest iteration of his Hi Fi. About 20 years ago I told him to stop wasting his considerable funds on overpriced but idiosyncratic( not to say average) stuff from Linn Products and Naim Audio. I predicted he would end up with horn loaded speakers and valve amps. My prediction came true. Â https://photos.app.goo.gl/4FNtzurQ9fHbQiFm8 Â
Oztalgian 2,859
Back in the earlyv70s I remember being jealous of my brother who had just bought a Bang and Olufsen Beocentre 2000? The speakers were mounted on chromed metal stands that had a metal square frame base. The turntable was in a piece of wooden furniture that looked a little like a bookcase. Beekay 4,275
Today is my fourth birthday !!...It was October 26th 2018, when I first enrolled/enlisted, (call it what you like) onto Nottstalgia. Since then I've learned a multitude of interesting things and made many new acquaintances, some of whom have been email or 'WhatsApp ' contacts. I've found relatives, long lost for over 60 years and have also heard from old school friends and even neighbours from my Radford stomping ground. I've received lots of useful information from obliging fellow Nottstalgians, for which I am eternally grateful. Made some 'penfriends too. For all this.... A BIG THANK YOU N.S ! ! ! 8

That's not his front room..it's his music room. And he's married with kids. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but those £30k speakers are part of the Tannoy Prestige Range and are extremely well made. The record player is a £30k+ model and the rest of it adds up to around £100k. He works hard and makes more than that in a year, so I guess he's entitled to spend it how he likes.

It sounds brilliant. I've always liked Tannoy speakers, especially the big Prestige series ones. Couldn't fit them in my house though..even if I could afford them. Although cabinet sizes vary, they're all based on the idea of a single 'dual concentric' drive unit with a tweeter firing through the middle. It gives brilliant imaging, superb detail and stunning dynamics. They are also very sensitive, so your Leak could probably drive them very well. My pal has of course spent big on his amps as he freely admits to 'not doing cheap', but I heard the considerably bigger Westminster Royals driven by a very humble amp at the Tannoy factory and they worked brilliantly. What are you selling your Leak for?
